When I read the article this morning I went Whao!, maybe this didn't exactly come out as I had intended. This great community certainly cares a lot about minis and has been extremely supportive of the initiative and of the minis developers. I just wish they would be appreciated by a lot more people :-).
That being said, I'm very happy to finally be able to mention that we are working on a new Zombie Tycoon title for Vita and PS3 and that it will be a big step up from the first one. I hope you guys enjoy it a lot when it comes out next year.

If you look at the comments of that article, it's clear that there are lots of gamers who have misconceptions about Minis, such as:
1. The developers of Minis have lots of money. We don't know why they keep making Minis, because they'd make more money making full PS3 games. Surely every developer has the resources to churn out PS3 games, right? And why do these rich developers keep pricing Minis so high? If you make a game 99 cents, then for sure millions of people will buy it, and you'll be rolling in dough.
2. If Minis are just apps, why don't developers simply make every iOS/Android game as a Mini, too? I mean, you just call up Sony, and you're done, right? It's money with no work involved!
3. It doesn't make any sense that Sony has apps for the PS3. These games make more sense on handhelds. But Sony's first handheld, the Vita, can't play most Minis. If only Sony had a handheld before the Vita that could play these, but no, these are apps meant for the PS3. They are PS3 apps that don't have Trophies! I also don't understand why the PS1 and PS2 games in the PS Store don't have Trophies, which is why I won't buy them.
*sigh*

onmode's been on fire recently, time to recalibur the fun level a bit, and i do agree with what onmode said, some people need to think a bit more...

Ugh, I just woke up from a nap to suck down a bowl of Nissin Teriyaki Beef Chow Mein and check the forums before passing out again. Where do I end up, reading comments from a bunch of jacka**es.
I'm too sleepy to rant about said jacka**es, so I'm back to sleep. I'll give a thorough rant at work tonight.

I really need a vita now.

IGN "commentors" (to some extent, their very staff) really rides my nerve. I was once a teenager too, but I'm not as ignorant as these children. If these are adults, oh my.

Unfortunately I think quite a few of them are... But that doesn't bother me too much.

Well, I really think Sony is at fault for not promoting Minis better, especially in North America. They never really knew how to promote the PSP and that is doubly so in the case of Minis.

True that, I could never find a single mini except for Angry Birds on there website.

Sony and the naivete of gamers lead to Minis being treated like an unwanted step child. Sony's biggest mistake, in my opinion, besides from lack of promotion, was their decision to make Minis playable on the PS3.
On the surface it seemed like an honorable move by Sony so that Minis could see more sales, but I don't believe that was ever the intention. The thing that Sony put out there to make PS+ not seem like the biggest rip off in recent years, was the promise of free games. I'm pretty sure it is ALOT cheaper for Sony to cut Mini developers an incentive check for free Minis than it is someone like Square Enix or Capcom for free PSone Classics.
This added with people and their downright disturbing trophy whoring, equals nothing but a bunch of dumba**es laying down claims about Minis that are no where near true. Trophy/Achievement whores are the heroin addicts of the gaming world. They sit around the street corners of Gamevile scratching their necks and asking for quarters. These parasites will bad mouth anything that doesn't give them their trophy fix. You can't thrive on PSN if you lack trophy support, don't instill nostalgia, or aren't freaking Angry Birds.
Minis look as appealing beside Journey, as a school lunch pizza does beside a slice from a pizzeria. Honestly, what did Sony think would happen. That's not me knocking Minis, I love the little boogers, but you can't deny that fact.
Minis where designed for the PSP, should have remained on the PSP only, and should have been promoted alongside PSN, not incorporated into it. They created the program to compete with the App Store, but just like the PSP, they left them to fend for itself here in NA. That in turn made people not give a crap.
Then there's Sony's lack of promotion. Lets face it, most gamers are idiots. You have to trick them into liking something with pictures and such. That's how Uncharted, God of War, CoD, Halo, etc, got so big. It's because the people behind those games spent money telling you you should love them. Sony should have spent a little money telling people why they should love Minis, things could have been different.

That's how Uncharted, God of War, CoD, Halo, etc, got so big.
I haven't played ANYTHING from that list except for Uncharted (Golden Abyss, got bundled with my Vita). Well, I was so broke this "current-gen" (Wii, Xbox 360, PS3) that the only console I got was a handheld, the PSP. MWAHAHAHAHA.
And yeah, I am not into trophy chasing, but I usually replay a game to get the trophies. Great incentive for replaying the game.

Thank you Frima. You finally gave me a reason not to regret purchasing my Vita. Any word on when ASSfor2Bucks will be Vita compatible? I'm still trying to complete Zombie Tycoon (last level, any suggestions?) but really want to get back into some solid scrolling shoot em up. I think I even get to start it from scratch since I may not have had my savefile backed up when I lost my psp.
For the most part, I only trophy whore when it's something that may be a fun challenge. Getting all the Feathers in ACII was difficult but fun (with a map, couldn't imagine doing it without), the terrible Prince of Persia game was kinda fun to try and get the boss specials. There's plenty of titles like this.

Now that I think of it wasn't there a member here who asked for Zombie Tycoon every other post? Shame he'll miss this...
@confultyf
What Prince of Persia game? (2008)?Posted 7 years ago # -
Thanks confuletlyf!
I have been told that A Space Shooter for 2 Bucks! will finally be available on the Vita on June 5th in America. (It is already available in Europe).
I too couldn't wait.
Also, in the meantime I suggest you try Mutant Blob Attack for the Vita. It's really super fun and is developed by our fellow Canadian developers @ Drinkbox.
On our side we are working hard on the new and very ambitious Zombie Tycoon 2: Brainhov's Revenge.
Posted 7 years ago # -
didn't realize that mutant blob game was made byi a canadian. dev. am trying to clear out some space on my memory card for it now. Am still working on uncharted and have to play the new escape plan levels but am moving and have a 6 hour flight to keep myself busy on. A new canadian game would be nice.
Please tell us that the new zombie tycoon game will use buttons. I'm very disappointed at the lack of traditional controls for the vita. I read the face buttons will select units again, and am very happy to hear it. If i wanted touch gamesi would have gotten an ipod
Posted 7 years ago # -
@confuletyf
I told you it was. ;-) From Toronto too.I agree. Please give us the option to use touch or buttons Frima.
Posted 7 years ago # -
Of course!
The game is being developped for both Vita AND PS3 so the main control scheme will use the usual buttons. Some of the additionnal Vita controls will be nice though :-).
Posted 7 years ago # -
On Vita, it will be Touch only!
...
Just kidding!
The basic philosophy is, we have the same control scheme on PS3 and PSVita, but we want to add what feels right via touch controls on Vita.
If you have any suggestion, go for it ;)

Will there be competitive multiplayer between the Vita and PS3? Also it might be neat if you added a feature like Reality Fighters, on the Vita, were you take a picture of your face and put it on a character/zombie.
Posted 7 years ago # -
Hello Frima! I really like ZT, but I remember level 3 being so damn difficult, that I was stuck for 1 year. And I still am. So, if it's not to much to ask for, can you put a skip level option in this one. Thanks.

@Huicho
That made me laugh.:-)Posted 7 years ago # -
Where's the fun in that, Huicho!? Keep at it, there's no better feeling than finally beating that level you were stuck on for so long.
