Ok, I've "golded" every level and unlocked the complete first magazine. They're not all perfect, but they're all gold. Need 8 more for all perfect. Now I can try the challenges. Yea, that's right. Still haven't tried them yet.

I've now played this game . . . aaaaand I don't like it very much. Yes, it's very well executed, has great graphics and sound (except that Mr. Earth blends into the background too easily, and the same could be said of the enemies--in fact, sometimes I thought an enemy was my guy), and has good controls. It has good flow in the level designs, too, in terms of when you should use your special weapons. I think I just don't like the "let's see how we can sneak bad guys past the good guy" concept, because every missed enemy was like a slap on the wrists. "Oh, you missed another one! And another!" Basically, instead of using a risk-reward paradigm, it used a risk-punishment system, or at least that was how I kept feeling. For some reason, I didn't foresee that before actually playing the game myself.
Also, I'm not exactly good at this game. I have no illusions that I'll be able to get any more perfects than the 2 I have, and of the worlds' final stages, I was only able to get a gold on 2 of them--and heck, I couldn't even swing better than bronze on Moscow's final stage (granted, I was short of silver by just 1 bad guy), because I can't seem to beat it without luck. I beat it once with 3 seconds to spare, and then I was never able to beat it again.
Anyway, to the Infinite Mode scores:
New York - 184,320
Tokyo - 197,640
Mexico - 322,290
Moscow - 257,400Posted 10 months ago # -
I played this game a while back. But your guys' scores made me wanna play again too. Just let me DL it again...
Posted 10 months ago # -
DL done! K so should i use analog nub or dpad? what do you use?
Posted 10 months ago # -
I use the pad myself. A few of us golded everything and got all the challenges. I'm one of them by the way, lol. I love this game, but havent played in a while.

@onmode-ky
Your rewards are Earth's super moves. But I will admit those b*stards use some pretty cheap methods in both handicapping and distracting you.I tried playing it the other day and couldn't stand it anymore. I honestly don't know what happened because I loved it when it was released.

I use the D-pad the vast majority of the time when playing scrolling shooters. The only exceptions are if I'm using a GameCube controller (don't know if it's just my controller, but the D-pad is a little inaccurate on it and can get me killed; besides that, it's not well placed on the GC controller) or if a particular area in the game is more suited for pan-directional movement, like the Gradius V Stage 5 boss fight. Most of the time, the D-pad's precision is what I need.
Anyone have any tips on the Moscow boss fight? During most of my attempts, time ran out with about a quarter of the boss' life remaining. What was I doing wrong?
Also, did anyone get all perfects in the story mode?
Your rewards are Earth's super moves.
When I was playing, those moves felt more like requirements ("Use them or else miss even more bad guys!") than rewards. *sigh*

@onmode-ky
if i remember right, you have to focus on it's weakspot on the head i believe, and don't stop. 99% focus on the weakspot, 1% on ravagers and you should win. hope that helps a bit.
