The flying hamster or Ace Armstrong vs. the alien scumbags? Just when you play it out
once.
P.s. I just saw that the flying hamster is 45 MB and ace armstrong is 40 MB. I thought lauging jackhal said that game was at the size limit?!

Laughing Jackal later wrote, "We did think we were gonna have some size issues but sorted all that out!!"
I'd like to know the answer to this as well :p
I have 3 bucks left in my wallet and the only thing that catches my eye for that price is the little hamster dude. I'm not a fan of SHMUPS because they are usually way more difficult than my tolerance can take, so I was wondering how hard is Flying Hamster?
It's quite a bit tougher than ASS for $2 IMO.
Another minus point is it's a horizontal shooter... I like vertical ones.
Guess which I'm gonna pick! jk ;)
And maybe, one day, somebody else will 1CC Ace... ;_;
how hard is Flying Hamster?
It depends on what you mean by "hard." If you are talking about how easy it is to reach the end of the game, it's not that bad, because you can start from any area you have reached (unlike in the iOS version of the game, mind you, where you have to beat the whole thing before you unlock stage select). Also, the game awards an extra credit every half hour of gameplay, as I recall. In Ace, the number of continues is a constant depending on which difficulty level you choose.
In terms of difficulty of gameplay, they're fairly on par; both will keep you on your toes and cursing your mistakes. Ace gives you extra lives every now and then, based on score milestones, while Hamster allows you only 3 hits before game over, though the hit count resets every stage and is occasionally replenishable by a floating power-up.
The hard mode in Hamster and the Elite mode in Ace are both very difficult. Hamster's takes away stage select, meaning you only rely on your number of credits, while Ace's gives you only 1 credit; this is on top of the modes in both being harder in gameplay than the other modes.

*ahem* Al obviously is talking about Elite mode here, since at least 2 of us in this forum have 1CC'd Rookie mode. I came within a hair's breadth of 1CC'ing Pro mode, too (killed the last boss at the same time I lost my last life).
Al, if you pay me, I'll put in the extensive training needed to 1CC Elite mode! :D
I downloaded the hamster dude and by God is that bastard cute! It's definitely harder than the average game, but it's not too frustrating.
The thing with the Hamster is that you can continue until you beat the normal mode, pretty much. (And then there is a new mode that doesn't let you continue, but is just a remixed version of the original)
On the flip side, Ace doesn't. Even in the newer, easier version, I could only make it halfway.
@onmode-ky - you either do it for the LOVE, or not at all. Do you think a second thumb grows ITSELF? You have to put the hours in, dude... ;D
I think JeremyR is talking about starting a new game from a stage later than Stage 1, rather than the traditional arcade meaning of "continue."
Yeah, it's much easier to rid oneself of a second right thumb compared to growing one. The pain involved, though . . . could be equal! :D
