According to IGN, and a couple other game sites, Asphalt 5, a great-looking game for the iPod Touch/iPhone, is to be released as a PSP Mini sometime in 2010. I'm actually rather excited about this, as other racing fans probably are, considering the fact that the iPhone/iPod Touch game includes Ferraris. Nothing on a ESRB rating yet, though. Hope this does come out, because it looks really cool!

Has there been any new news on this game? It was initially announced to be recieving a Minis release way back before the Minis launched. Heck, it was announced alongside other Gameloft games such as Uno, Hero Of Sparta, Let's Golf, and Real Soccer 2010.

I haven't seen anything since it was announced (along with the other stuff)
Gameloft might have decided to focus more on the DSi. There was a small-ish article on Minis and DSi ware on Ars Technica a couple weeks ago, and the Gameloft guy was sort of lukewarm about the PSP.
Actually, he sounds confused more than anything else. Either that or it's an old interview with him....

Oh....I didn't know it was announced earlier...I thought it was something new... whoops! But you know, a lot of Mini that were announced came out a lot later then they were supposed to, so this might still have a chance. But yeah, you're probably right about it not coming out... :(

So this game is basically cancelled?

Probably. It was announced to be one of the first Minis to come out, but since we haven't seen it yet, it's probably not coming. It might come yet, but I doubt it. So, to answer your question, yeah, it's "basically canceled." Too bad, though. I was looking forward to this...

We've also yet to see Burn Zombie Burn 2D, Pac-Man CE, and such, even though they were all set for Minis release before the Minis were launched. Would be nice if the blog owner could see if they could get some details for us (hint, hint).

Well, I wouldn't jump to conclusions one way or the other just yet. It seems like Mini development has take a longer than many developers originally expected.
I actually have my doubts that Asphalt 5 would be a mini anyway, due to the file size. Maybe a regular PSN title.
Anyway, if I had a twitter account and/or knew how to use it, I would ask Gameloft that way. That seems to be their main form of communication..

I've actually read somewhere that Asphalt 5 may have seen a retail release on PSP, but I can't remember where.

Don't worry.
Gameloft waits more or less one year after beginning of a new system.
Before middle 2009, they released very rarely games for iPhone;
The same for DSiWare. From March 2009 to January 2010, we've seen 2-3 games and stop.
And now?
Legend of Exidia(February)
Zoo Frenzy(March)
Let's Golf(February)
Real Football 2010(March, the same game announced for Minis many months ago)
Ferrari GT Evolution (April)
Gangstar 2(April)
EarthWorm JimIMHO, we'll more Gameloft Games at the end of this Summer.
PS:Excuse my english :(

I asked Gameloft on Facebook, as well as Twitter, no response, so I wouldn't hold my breath.
