I hear they are going for the Nolan type film. I don't know, since the reboot is set during Peter's high school years, it may actually work. High school can be a dark and twisted place for people who don't fit in, like Peter Parker. Hell, it's not all that great for the ones that do fit in. Plus, you wouldn't need a superhereo if your city wasn't facing grim times.
I did feel the Hulk reboot was unnecesary, Hulk, was an interesting take on the character, and was much more engaging than, The Incredible Hulk. But the Spider-Man films just felt tacky to me. It was like even though it was Spider-Man, Sam Raimi had created his own mythology, a new hero, and slapped some fan favorites over it. It's kind of hard for me to explain.
The one thing I'm not looking forward to, the video game tie in. That's only because they usually suck alot of ass. Though Spider-Man 2: The Game was pretty good because of the free roam. It started sucking when those damned kids kept losing their stupid balloons!
