That Drop will be headlined by Gravity Rush. It releases on the 12th. Seems like a fitting time for me to stop doing these. Of course, that doesn't mean someone else can't post The Drop every week.

Dang, no price updates or discounts for PSP.

@ChaosRandom - Alien Syndrome and Monkey Ball are $3.00 each from $9.99 for PSP.

Another weak week for me. I need to add some money to the Paypal account so I can grab the Ridge Racer content.
The drawing app for Vita sucks. Even though I have been spoiled by what you can do with Colors! 3D, it's still a terrible art app.

Hey thanks Nexus. Sadly I don't want either of those...even for 3 bucks.

@ChaosRandom - Actually I was wrong (I've been sick and out of my mind the past few days). It's only with PSPlus. Alien Syndrome isn't too bad though.

Not quite the same as the Drop, but still along the same lines. Here's the Playstation Plus line up for the month of May. Not bad for under $5.

That article had the biggest typo I have ever seen. ''Floating Cloud PENGUIN Saves The Pilgrims''.

Legend of Dragoon is here.
Die! MORE AND MORE!
LoD is one of the most flawed game ever made, it's extremely ridiculous and self-oblivious, it's so bad, it's good.

I remember playing it back in the day, but I never got very far into the first disc. Maybe I'll get farther this time around.
Max Payne releases on PSN this week. I've never played the Max Payne games, but lucky for me it'll be releasing on Android devices either this week or sometime soon. My phone can run GTA III, so I'm hoping it can handle Max Payne too.

No, O, play the game on PC, I mean, you can probably play the game in today's netbooks given its age. Mouse+keyboard control on this one is just so good for this game. Depressing game. Really depressing game, played this game on its release year, and bought the sequel. It's just...so sad and dark.

Hey Jasper remember the kick ass nightmare scene from the part 1 where he's was all drugged up? So dark and sad indeed.
O, please give it a go. You'll love it.
Posted 1 year ago # -
I may do that, I should be able to get a copy pretty cheap now.
I've heard a lot of people say that the game is really dark, sad, and good. Pretty much the opposite of the movie.
Posted 1 year ago # -
I still have my copy, but haven't played it in ages.
Jasper, what do you mean by "flawed"? I never played it back in the day.

I find those segments creepy actually. Vomited once, probably ate bad food, but Max Payne did trigger it.

I won't spoil it for Chaos, but the battle mechanics are imbalanced, nope, broken. You can only carry limited items in your inventory, but weapons and armor you can carry them all at once. I have no problems with linear games, but LoD is too linear, it feels like an on-rail RPG. The story is also meh, some events are very familiar, but there are parts of the plot that are indeed original. Also, transforming into dragoons in color-coded fashion? Power Rangers much? lolz. And yeah, the game is toooooooooo god damn serious. Sometimes it tries to be funny, but fails miserably.
BUT STILL, Legend of Dragoon is one of my treasured PS1 games. It is flawed, yes, but I can't deny its charm. The Addition system is pretty neat.
BLAZING DYNAMO!

Looks like North America gets Knight Fortix 2 this week.

Back by lack of demand, The Drop!
The Drop: Week of May 28th 2012
Naw, I only did it because the Gravity Rush demo is up this week.

I'm getting that Gravity Rush demo and Pure Chess.
Posted 11 months ago # -
I am so looking forward to that Gravity Rush demo. Looks fantastic.
Pure Chess seems only passable, going from reviews. It lacks any live multiplayer or Ad-Hoc play, and the asynchronous multiplayer is sluggish due to the speed of PSN messages. It does have two-player local play, though, which is a plus. I guess it depends on the price... If it's only a few bucks, I may pick it up.
Posted 11 months ago # -
Yeah, I have a buddy that I used to play chess with alot back in high school, I wouldn't mind playing against him over PSN. I don't really mind the whole message thing, I prefer it like that since I don't have time to sit and play a match.
But like you said Granpire, it all depends on the price. 5 bucks and I'm in. anything more and I'll wait until it is 5 bucks.
Posted 11 months ago # -
This is the price in other regions since they haven't released any info on the NA price.
£3.69,€4.49,AU$6.25
So it's looking like it'll be around the $6 range. While the slow speed, in correspondence chess, might be somewhat annoying earlier in the game if you're both on, it won't be later. Sice later in the game, when more thinking is required, it's pretty much mandatory. I mean personally I might have three hours to sit down and finish a game, (The most I've spent is 3.5 hours) but if I did, I'd rather do it face to face.

I love having a system for asynchronous play, but I think having dedicated servers that store simple turn information which is fetched upon game launch would be far more efficient than having to spend the half-minute to load up your PSN messages and download turn information.
Anyway, I'd still love to use the feature to play with others online, but I think it could have been handled much better.
I do love to have the option to play chess live in person, especially since I would play with my 12-year-old cousin. I like to be able to teach him some strategies and show him when he misses opportunities in person. With asynchronous play, that dynamic won't really work. It's a little inexcusable that they chose to leave out simple Ad-Hoc play, in my opinion. It's a feature that every PSP chess game has.

If Pure Chess is a "buy one for one system get it for the other" type of deal then I might think about it. So far I'm only looking at the Just Cause 2 bundle and Motorstorm Apocalypse bundle for PS3.
Posted 11 months ago # -
It's not. It's downloading right now so I can't tell you what I think of it yet.

The environments and the different chess sets look interesting. I'm curious how well the 3D is pulled off. I still have the Ultimate Board Game Collection on both my PSP Go and my Vita so I really am not jonesing for a chess game. If they had done the 2 for 1 then I might have considered it.
