i would really like to see a way of upgrading your character by getting new and better fire arms or just how he looks cause this keeps the game fun and addicting. Also i would like to see trophhies and medals so i can keep comming back. GOOD LUCK and great job on coconut dodge.

Be nice to see a traditional shooter in development again.Realy interested to see what you can come up with. The Dreamcast had some great shooters at the end of its lifespan like Karous crow and Trigger heart exelica.Which prior to the Psp was the last time anyone was making traditional shooters of any note. Then along came Stardust and Everyday shooter on the Psp and showed how well they can look.i hope more developers follow your example and add titles to a genre that is over looked on our ace little handheld.Good luck for the future and keep us updated when you get chance.

There has been some great ideas discussed on this thread. I'm really looking forward to the FuturLab teaser campaign! ;-)

I think the player characters should be named "Balr" and "Utuf."
It would be a nice homage to Proco and Tiat. :)
Anyway, when do we get to see anything, James?

Something along the lines of the R-Type force pod would be cool to implement. My last favorite shmups were Axelay on SNES, R-Type Final and Gradius 5.
Cant wait to see more about this

Hiya,
Thanks for the suggestions folks :)
We're working hard on some things to show you... That's all I can say unfortunately, but I don't think you'll be disappointed!
Cheers,
James

And please, would you make complex highscore table in this game?

Hey djax,
Can you give me an example of a complex high score table that you'd like to see?
Cheers!

Having Youtube Support would be awesome and could really help drive sales ;)

for replays?
interesting idea, but there would be a heck of alot of barriers to overcome.
firstly, minis cant connect to the internet, I dont even think they are aloud to make video files,
but as someone mentioned earlier, it would be possible to make a save file that essentially records and re-enters the buttons the player pushed, over again (and if the enemy attack waves are randomized, it would record where and when they spawned), to essentially "re-enact" what the player did.
I suppose it would also be possible for them to write an external application for pc, that can convert the save file into a video file that the player can then post on youtube,
but that'd be a HECK of alot of work for Futurlab (who, if im not mistaken has a one man programming team)!
so I dont think it would be a smart move, doing all that work for a feature that will not even be used by everyone.Posted 1 year ago # -
@djax
Ah, I was referring to that sort of thing as a Stats Page. You know the stats on WipeEout Pure? That kind of thing. I guess you want it more detailed than that then, with a board for each item?
Whatever we implement, ease of use and clarity of UI will be our priority, but it's early days so we'll see what we can do :p
@Lord_Rushton
Carson is right, that would not be possible given minis' restrictions. However, we are going to look into implementing the high scores code that GripGames did for their 5-in-1 Arcade Hits.
Cheers,
James

Hello folks,
So there are now some details on our space shooter available here:
http://www.powerlev.com/Quarp_Jet_Rescue_Plan_Part_1.zip
We listened to all of your suggestions, and tried to think of a way to satisfy many of your requests, whilst also forging an original direction for the genre. We hope that we're on the right track.
Please have a read and let us know what you think so far, as we're always keen to hear your suggestions and feedback - and we'll try to answer questions if you have them!
Of course, that is if you're not too busy playing WTF?! ( I am hooked on it too )
Thanks,
James

I think you've done that nicely! The game approach seems to be a nice blend of classic scrolling shooter with some interesting gameplay twists (the teleporting etc).
It's sounds really fun - I'm looking forward to learning/seeing more! :-)

Wow, just looking through this forum post, it\'s amazing how much you folks helped us to decide what was important in the game.
We\'re very excited about showing game footage, and finally getting the game to market. The release date is March 7th, and we\'re working on getting the website, trailer and final polish into the game now and throughout January.
Not too long now! :)

Those piles of bones outside the door to the PlayStation Store are what\'s left of those who decided to line up early for a day-one purchase. ;P
Finally almost there!
