We have a a thread for movies and animation, figured we needed one for shows. Mostly because I recently watched Gotham on Netflix, thought it was great and needed somewhere to talk about it.
For a show that focuses on so MANY characters, it never feels overwhelming. The character development of a few characters is just incredible. My biggest issue is that nobody seems to stay freaking dead. Oh, and Bruce annoys me. I'm tempted to give The Flash a watch. It just looks so cheesy though.
I also watched Stranger Things. It had some issues as far as storytelling, but visually and sonically (Is that a word? Google Chrome doesn't think it is.) it's fantastic. The writing for the kids is the best I've ever seen. Usually children dialogue is cringe worthy. Not their fault, you have out of touch, crusty old people writing their dialogue for them. But it's just spot on here. And the pacing was perfect. Oh, and that soundtrack... Straight ear candy. My one major issue, and it's not really an issue, was Winona Ryder. I have never been a fan of hers. She's just very one-dimensional to me. Her performances lack whatever emotion she tries to portray. Sadness, happiness, etc. She can put on the face of those emotions, but they all feel the same. But maybe it's just me.
