I remember reading somewhere there are supposed to be 50 minis by year end. Does anyone know if that means 50 worldwide so each region gets a few or does it mean 50 for every market?

I'm beginning to wonder the same thing as well. I'm thinking there will be more releasing closer to Christmas as there will be probably be a lot of new PSP owners logging on the PSN this year.

Yeah what David says, right now they're probably looking at the minis sales, so they can go ALL OUT on the holiday.

I am hoping that it means 50 in every market. So far Europe seems to be getting them often and early. But I do just think it is the ESRB process that is holding them up from getting into the US PSN.
The thing is, why would a developer spend all the money to develop a mini and only release in one region. For a small rating process fee they can release in all regions. It seems like it is only common business sense to do this. So that is why I expect the minis to go to all regions eventually.

I agree with Chris. Especially since if you are already releasing your mini in Europe or Oceania then you don't have any localization issues bring it to North America. When the Go launches in Japan, things might get really interesting as the Japanese development community has yet to really enter the minis scene.

I have a couple question about the ratings for Minis:
-I know ESRB costs a $800 fee for projects with development costs under USD $250K. How much does it costs the other ratings?
-And are the other ones like PEGI (Europe, 30+ countries), USK (Germany), OFLC, CRB (Australia and New Zealand) mandatory for Minis?
-How many ratings must be done to publish in all Minis markets? Since Japan doesn't have Minis, I assume you don't have to do CERO.

Japan not utilizing the Minis structure is a bummer. Think of all the doujin bullethell shooters that could have been released for PSP/PS3 instead of XBL! Sony Japan effectively governs Playstation for the greater Asia region so it's not like I can hook up with a dev in HK or Singapore anytime soon. The devs in India on the other hand are so lucky to be counted alongside Oceania and Africa under the EU program.

It seems like the Minis thing is mostly a SCEE show, with the SCEA just tagging a long half heartedly.
The total lack of synergy at Sony is really amazing. It's like each region does its own thing, mostly oblivious to each others efforts. And then the various other Sony companies, like SoE, who seem to support Sony platforms very reluctantly.
