Anyone played 101-in-1 Megamix on the PSP and can tell a little about it? I'm particularly interested in hearing about the Space Invader clone. Thank you.

I haven't played it yet either, but it does* sound like a tempting a value for money package. I'm also keen to hear from anyone who has played 101-in-1 Megamix!

A little vague there. You mean does or doesn't?
PSX game Bishi Bashi includes 85 mini games and it costs less than €5, but most of the games weren't fun playing after 5 minutes. I fear it's a little bit the same with 101-in-1 Megamix, but if Space Invaders and a few other classics are included and they have good replay value then I might be sold on this game.

Sorry, I've corrected the typo in my posting above. I meant "does" ;-)
I agree. There only needs to be a few high-quality gems amongst the detritus in order for the package to be good value! ;-)

I have it, haven't played it alot though. I'll play it a bit more later today though.
Haven't played the Space Invaders one, not sure what the name of that minigame is. So far, based on what little I've played I can say it has nice production values and a certain charm to it.
The games are pretty fun, though I cannot comment on their replayability in the long run. At least not yet.
Had to upgrade my PSP for this game lol, didn't want to because of the emulators on my PSP Go, but thankfully there are still other ways nowadays.

I read a review of the game (for the Nintendo DS) and there's apparently supposed to be a Pong clone included as well. Interesting. Hopefully you can shed some light on this, SiDCrAzY, when you have time. :)
Unfortunately, I also found out 101 is that sort of game where you'll have to complete certain games in order to unlock more games. Not happy with that at all. If I decide to buy a game where it says that 101 games are included in the package I also want to be able to play each and everyone of them when I want to without having to spend time completing games I might find boring before that. Stupid idea.

It unlocks two games for any game that you complete, so you always have a choice of games in case you find one boring or too hard to complete.
I've only played for 10 minutes or so and I have already unlocked 10 games, but I understand what you mean.
I personally don't mind it, I see it as part of the fun. Unlocking things and what not.
It has in-game trophies apparently. I saw something in there that said Trophies, didn't bother looking into it as I just went straight into the game.

OK, I see, thanks. How would you estimate the gameplay value to be at this point? Do you think the games you've completed so far are worth playing a second time regardless of thropies? I mean, are the games fun?

So far the games have been pretty fun, there's one that's like whack-a-mole that I didn't like, but that's mostly because I found it a bit annoying to play with the PSP's controls.
I've already played a few of them more than once and they still feel fresh. This is perfect for when you have five minutes to kill or just trying to pass the time at the docs office.
Some of the games def. have that "one more go" feeling.
My favorite so far might be "The Ice Pyramid"
Think of it sorta like "Jenga" with Penguin on the top. The goal is to kick out the ice blocks from under the penguin without it falling. You take turns against the computer and whoever ends up knocking the penguin off ends up losing.
Edit: Oh and for those that care it has a "High Scores" table as well.

Excellent, excellent. Thanks for the info. Much appreciated.

Curiousity got the better of me and I bought the game.
OK, so I was going to find out about the Space Invader clone. It turned out to be a one-level game called "Fatal Destruction" which you have to finish within 30 seconds (IIRC) and after that there's absolutely zero replay value. What a bummer!
I've tried around 30 of the 101 games so far and to me they're quite frankly bland at best, some are rather tedious (didn't even think that was possible for games lasting less than a minute). They're not captivating at all and I can't see myself coming back to these games ever again. There's also the annoying loading times once you've completed a game and want to go back to another one.
To me 101-in-1 Megamix is truly an awful collection of dull games so far. I'm hoping that at least one or two of the remaining 70 games I haven't played yet will be fantastic, but I fear the crapfest will continue.
Luckily, my spouse usually likes these kinda games so it isn't totally wasted money, I hope. Time will tell.

I watched the trailer and I don't recommand it.

@Rein
Really? That's a shame.
Guess the game isn't for everybody.
What did you think of WTF: Work Time Fun, if you've played it? Or games like Mario Party? This isn't as good as Mario Party, but do you usually like mini-game party games like these?

you live in europe which means you should get sega megadrive collection( psp essentials) for 5 EUR less than 101 in one megamix!!! It's one of the better psp game collection.

@SiDCrAzY
No sweat, my friend. It's a matter of preference, eh. If you're happy with the game more power to you.
I haven't played the games you mentioned, but I found Bishi Bashi (on the PSN Store) quite entertaining and sometimes still find myself going back to it. It only costs €4.95 and includes 85 mini games. That's probably my biggest gripe with 101, the pricing. Had it cost less than €5 I'd be totally cool with the lack of re-playability and bland graphics and game design. But when it costs thrice as much I feel entitled to expect more. For €15 this game simply doesn't deliver as far as I'm concerned. The games are waaaaay too short. So short that there's no point in going back to them again. Example being the bowling clone game (which has been the best of the 50 I tried). There's only three (3) throws involving the game. Yes, only three throws. You make a turkey (three strikes) and why do you want to come back again? Had it been a round of ten there would have been space to improve, but similar with the rest of the games, the gameplay is so short that when you have accomplished the goal there's little or no incentive to come back again.
Incidentally, my spouse finally got around to play the game without me saying anything about it on beforehand. She tried three different mini games and after less than five minutes (no kidding!) she told me that she was sorry, but that she was going to delete the (stupid) game from her PSP MMC. That's coming from someone who loves Bishi Bashi and small Flash games like the ones at miniclip.com. I've also deleted the game on my own PSP since, sadly, the game made me feel more annoyed than amused.

@pspgamer01
IIRC There wasn't anything in the Sega Megadrive Collection that I wanted to play, but thanks for the suggestion anyway. Keep them coming. :)

@ Rein
maybe capcom classics remixed is something for you?Posted 1 year ago # -
@ pspgamer01
You forgot CC Reloaded. ;)Posted 1 year ago # -
The only Capcom game out of the two collections I'd like to play would be "1943". But now when I'm aware of lots of shmup games coming to the PSP I'll rather wait for one of those (other than The flying Hamster which I already have and love, love, love haha) and see if there's any similarity to "1943". "1943" was never a 'must have' game for me in the first place anyway.
I have the EA Replay collection though. I bought it because of "Desert Strike", "Jungle Strike" and the "Road Rash" series. So far I'm very pleased with the games. As mentioned in another thread I'd wish the Namco Museum Battle Collection was available on the PSN Store. That would be an instant purchase day one.
Are there other PSN Store titles that consist of mini games ala Bishi Bashi and 101 in 1 Megamix and are fun to play?

@ Rein
I don't understand you@ thumbbandit
I didn't like reloaded. It was a bad buy in comparsion to remixed. Remixed had better games, better system in terms of unlock things. I hate the slot in reloaded. And the Ghost and goblins series are far too difficult for me! :P

I don't think the earlier games in this series (which were Wii and DS retail releases) got particularly good reviews.
My favorite mult-game collection on the PSP is, of course, Gradius Collection. Destroy the cores!

Gradius collection is too difficult for me :P.

Each of 101 games has own highscore table?

@ djax
you're obsessed with highscores man xD

Hey, Gradius Collection is too difficult for me, too. Its savestate functionality makes it possible to see the end of a game, though; I used it a while back to actually finish the original Gradius for once in my life. And, besides, beyond my abilities or not, they're a lot of fun for me.

Nope.Posted 1 year ago # -
Hi guys, can anyone tell me how to start the game on a PSP Go please? Once I've selected "play" on what I assume is the home screen, it shows a TV and the option to select single or multi-player. Then nothing happens no matter what button I press. It only goes back to the home screen.
