@lj_ross
Hey Ross - I've just checked and seen your message on Facebook. I've just replied :-)
Thanks so much for the OMG-Z code - I can't wait to gib me some zombies! ;-)
lj_ross thanks for the prompt reply
I won the FB comp :D
Hey, Ross sent me a code for OMG-Z. Heres the thing though, when I submitted it Media Play got stuck on the "communicating with Server" screen. Now my code wont work. I was stoked to get the code and now cant redeem it. Any ideas?
If the key went through successfully then OMG-Z should probably be at the top of your download list. (to access the download list in MediaGo click the icon next to the Redeem Code icon)
Yea, way ahead of you. I immediately checked it and it doesnt show up. I wonder if its because OMG-Z isnt for sell yet. Only Plus users can get it without a code. Dang it, I want this game now. Well either way, that was super cool of Ross for hooking me up.
Doing a search for OMG-Z on Media Go brings up the game, maybe the download option will appear for you if you look for it that way?
I've been playing this non-stop over the weekend: This is an awesome game - very addictive! :-)
I love the atmosphere created by the fabulous artwork and background music. The controls work well too. The game has a slow, thoughtful pace - which makes a change from button mashing.
I'm getting mostly silver medals on the levels with the very occasional gold (no platinum yet). The game is very accessible but tricky to master. While there is definitely some tactics & thinking involved, there is also an equal amount of luck required as well, due to the random nature of the zombie AI.
Overall, it's kind of like the love child of Left 4 Dead and Sneezies :-)
It is indeed addictive. In essentially one long session, I platinum'd all but the 10 levels I haven't yet played. I still think Ace Armstrong is LJ's best work, but this is truly obscene in how it makes you want to keep going. Doesn't the UK have something called "ASBO" against things of this nature?
Some thoughts:
- I restarted the game after the first few levels because I discovered that I was misinterpreting the upgrade menu. I thought that the "Next" window was showing what was to be added, not the full state after addition; namely, I was confused when the second gun upgrade did not add a second round of ammo like it seemed to be saying. Also, it would be a lot easier to read that screen if the difference between current and next were highlighted, rather than requiring a scan of the entire set of text.
- When I did the above-mentioned restart, the game crashed my PSP. It was fine after rebooting and choosing New Game again, though.
- It's a bit weird that shooting two overlapping objects (zombies or explosive tanks) will hit the one in the back rather than the one in the front.
Glad you're enjoying it Volcane!
I've been on hols this week but it's been nice to see lots of people enjoying the game, and the Eurogamer review was a real plus. There's another good review on pushsquare.com
Maybe an iOS or Android version would work, or a pimped PS3 version?
:)
Man, I'm wanting to play this. I'll have to see if I have the download again option when the game officially goes on sale.
@ onmode-ky
An (Anti-Social Behaviour Order) 'ASBO'!?... I have one of those for killin' zombies... the judge said to me that zombies are people too (or at least they used to be).
LMOL
We'll hopefully get OMG-Z reviewed in OPM UK and Play magazines this coming month too, so I am crossing everything we'll get great scores like those already received from Eurogamer and pushsquare.com (which is probably the best review for anything I've worked on ever!)
When are pspminis.com going to do a review? Do we have to wait for the game to go on general release? ;)
Quick question: Do I need to get Platinum on all the levels in order to unlock all the levels?
Or will getting Silvers on most levels still allow me to complete the game by playing all levels?
TIA!
I don't remember exactly, but I think that of the three levels branching from a given level, the uppermost one is unlocked by getting a Bronze, the middle one by getting a Silver, and the lowest one by getting a Gold. By the end of the game, getting Platinums shouldn't be too difficult, incidentally.
Al, what makes the "highest chain" statistic get updated? Mine still says 142, yet I know I've chained together all 170 enemies in one of the final stages before (though, at most, it only displayed on the in-game chain counter as 166). Also, regarding your other-platforms question, I don't know if a touchscreen phone version of this would work so well, with fat fingers being so inaccurate as far as picking a specific target.
thumbbandit, what's "LMOL"? And I meant LJ might get an ASBO for making people into addicts.
It's awesome. I'd give the game a 9/10 myself. And yeah, bronze to unlock top then silver and gold. to unlock straight and bottom levels branching off.
Laughing Maniacaly Out Loud.
XD
Beat me to it!! Golds unlock the bottom tier.
Try restarting barrel levels to get more advantageous positioning - it really helps sometimes! ;)
SO any idea when this is on sale for us "non-plus" players?
It's exclusive to plus for one week usualy... so I'd guess this week.
It goes Om 'general release' on 16th (SCEA) and 17th (SCEE) of August, the same day as FF: Talisman of Death and Cubixx HD!
When are pspminis.com going to do a review? Do we have to wait for the game to go on general release? ;)
Thanks for the review code for OMG-Z, evanac! But I'm afraid we're going to release the review on the 'general release' date for the benefit of the non-Plus subscribers (plus, Plus subscribers don't need a review anyway, they can just download the freebies and try them out themselves). Aside from that, for the past few weeks there were lots of Minis to be reviewed. Expect the review on the 16th or 17th of August.
Cool, thanks Jasper.
@ evanac
Can I direct you to my question on the first page of this. You were apparently away when I asked it, so thought i'd bring it to your attention.
You dont have to answer it of course, I'd just like to make you aware it exists if you didnt know!
Hey Identity25,
Much as I'd love to tell you about all that its protected by reasonably hefty NDAs from the other side, so I can't. :(
Sorry, I understand your curiosity, really. :D
I thought that'd be the case! Cheers for answering anyway!
Haha! I wasn't saying anything, in hopes of not reminding Al of his previous response, to me, on this topic, but it seems he didn't forget his NDAs from the Other Side. Yet.
There will come a day! Friday night, after a long stretch at the pub.
Haha! I don't go to the pub much these days! ;P
