Yeah, that's a lot of bulk. I don't like the Wii U controller either, but Nintendo has done just fine this generation so maybe they know what they're doing.
I'm a gaming fan over a system fan - if it's good and has good games I'll get it.

Can we expect MH3 on PSP in the US?
That add-on looks really clunky. : / And why should a person buy something that should have been included in the first place?
I imagine it'll come bundled with Tri G. Meaning your still going to at least partially pay for it, because the bundle will likely be about $10 more than the game would normally be.
But hey, this is the thing that's going to, I'm sorry, that has aided in Vitas demise. You may as well get it so you can have a piece of history. Lol, smiley face.
damn and I got tired of everybody declaring PSP dead after 1 year because DS did better ...
PSVita is not even out yet, seems a little too early to talk about it's demise
both have games worth playing, i know cause i've got both DS and PSP, when there's a game on one system that catches my attention more i play that for a good while. things swithes around and i focus on the other one. it's all about enjoying your games, i know i'll get both vita and 3ds eventually and it's growing library of games, just want to have fun. if you're not having fun then you're doing it wrong (maybe)!
No no, I mean on PSP.
I was being sarcastic. But I'm sure whoever tagged the topic with, "Vita is already dead", likely believes it.
I don't think anyone here wants the Vita to die prematurely, it's just we're being realistic.
After Vice City Stories flopped, the PSP was basically dead in the west as far as software sales go. For the last couple years, about the only games for the PSP have been RPGs localized by a handful of small companies.
Heck, EA has put out more games for the Kindle the last few years than PSP.
Japan was the only place the PSP thrived, and that was because of MH. Now it doesn't have that. Maybe if it got a DQ or FF game, but Squenix hasn't announced anything...
I think the vita stands to be a direct competitor to the iphone market. Those of us that would go so far as to label ourselves gamers would love to have the full titles that have been announced, while being able to hand it to a friend or coworker who could still have fun because of simple touch controls.
The only real problem is all of these amazing titles somehow are unknown to people who are not already part of the Sony fold. All of my coworkers dismiss LBP as being a kids game because of it's cute graphics. Most people have never heard of Uncharted. These are titles that should be selling hardware, yet Sony has never been able to push them to the forefront.

It's starting to look like Portable 3rd won't see release outside of Japan until Vita's release. I think Sony wants to pull a Nintendo and use a Vita optimized version to help move units. It seems MH has become the Ferrari of handheld games. Sucks for Pokemon.
Sorry your question got lost in the shuffle, bud.
No worries, its just that I have become obsessed with MHFU and I'm not even Japanese.

Looking at those numbers 3DS is hardly streaking ahead at the moment.
Yeah, but that's before a winter season where it'll see Mario Kart 7, Super Mario 3D Land, Inazuma Eleven Go, Love Plus, and Monster Hunter Tri G. It will have a huge fall in Japan.
I think 3-DS is no bigger threat to ps vita and i hope PS vita will be bigger in europe then psp was.
It's over. Monster Hunter 4 was just announced for 3DS.
Why Capcom believes they owe Nintendo this much support is beyond me. But okay.
Ouch.
I don't think it's so much Capcom thinking they owe Nintendo, so much as Capcom really, really hating Sony. It's really hard to drawn any other conclusion from all the games announced for Sony platforms, then canceled and moved to other ones.
And the lack of ports. Capcom loves to port to everything but Sony platforms (unless they really pass up money). I mean seriously, how could the PSP never get a Resident Evil game? They could have ported some of the early ones for a small investment. Probably wouldn't get rich, but still, it's a big franchise, you never know.
But mostly I think it's development costs. Capcom is a very cheap company. The jump from the PSP to the 3DS isn't really a generation leap, it's more like from the Dreamcast to the Gamecube (or Xbox). Things look a lot better, but the models and such aren't that much more detailed.
When I poked around last night, I couldn't find any confirmation that MH4 would be 3DS-exclusive. It's possible it will be multi-platform.
another one to raise from slumber!!!
not sure how many of you guys know but Mario Kart 7 will have a peripheral like a wheel thingy attached to the 3DS to take advantage of the gyro scope thingy. it might work but i don't really like it too much. in other slightly unrelated news: Nintendo's reporting its first annual loss, it was only inevitable.
I saw the wheel. Thing is though, you can't use the 3D effect with it. I guess that ends up saving battery life, so that's a plus.
They keep coming out with peripherals like this, and I'm going to start calling it the Genesis Mobile.
lol, good one O-man, i'm not really fan of using gyroscope thingy, tried with the OoT demo and Starfox demo at gamestop, it just feels wrong.

Heh, it'll be interesting to see the CD drive attachment. ;D
Of course, there actually was a portable Genesis, the Sega Nomad, and there are several portable Genesis systems (running an emulator that's not fully compatible) out these days from Sega licensor AtGames. Naturally incompatible with the peripherals.
I had a Nomad when I didnt realize what I had. I sold it and wish I hadnt. You can still find em though.
Vita may be getting Monster Hunter and a Grand Theft Auto. We won't know for sure until Friday.
Heh, the MHP3 Vita entry is real, but the others are fakes (they were on NeoGaf)
Guess that means 3DS am doomed? We'll wait on Takao to chime in on that.
A**hole sarcasm aside, that will solve the sales problem in Japan. Why they love these games so much is a question no one will ever be able to answer for me.
Well, bear in mind, Monster Hunter Portable 3 is simply an existing PSP game. You can run it on a Vita in Japan, it just never came out outside of Japan. It was re-released on the PS3 in HD, presumably this would just be that re-mastered HD version on a cart.
Capcom apparently wanted to release the re-mastered PS3 version of the game, but Sony allegedly said "Screw that, just release the PSP version" and Capcom said "As if!".
Presumably this might be a compromise. But as you can just play the game on the Vita already in Japan, I don't think it's going to help sales any. Then again, they do prefer physical media there, so can't hurt, exactly.
We've reached a point where on a weekly average Monster Hunter Tri G on 3DS sells more units than the Vita does.
Great job Sony.
