the well known NGP (Next Generation Portable) aka PSP2, is meant to be an opponent against the 3DS.
i'll post the last news and rumors about the NGP on this thread so check it now and then.
specs: it will have a screen with 960x544 pixels witch is twice as many pixels as the other psp's
it will have a 5 inch multi-touch OLED screen and a touchpad on the back.
it'll also have dual analog sticks

latest rumor: the NGP will be released at the end of this year, some populair game providers said that it's release date would be 11/11/11
whats also interesting is that there's a chance the NGP will be released in europe BEFORE in japan
sony was also first planning for a world release at the same time but it seems impossible

I hope they do cut out some of the features they showed at the unveiling. If they put in the accelerometer and some of the other things they had initially announced, it'll be waay to expensive.
Though I don't plan on replacing my psp anytime soon. Maybe I'll be able to find some cheap used UMDs after launch though. ^.^

I preordered it yet on (Blockbuster) Game rush :D for $50 bucks. and they gonna use up to 9GB Game cards (Like resistance (9gb) ) but they dont store pictures, photos, music,etc.. they're only for games, the other memory card, like everyone else psp's gonna be up to 8-16 (To store minis, PSN games PATAPON 3) ...
People are jumping the gun on how "over" expensive it is. All over the internet I keep reading, it's gonna fail because it's too expensive, or they need to take some of the features out because it costs too much.
We don't know how much it costs. If they take anything away from it already, it could turn away a lot of people who are excited about it. A large number of people are excited about everything it can do, you take away some of it, why should they be excited anymore?
If they start taking features away from the system, it's like Sony is admitting they are second guessing it. And if they second guess it, you better believe developers will second guess it and it'll be the PSP all over again.
Sony hasn't taken away any features from the device they announced at the PlayStation Meeting 2011. That quote was in regards to when they were drawing up ideas of what they would want to include in this device. I suspect a 3D screen was one of the ideas dropped.
Also, I still think this will come under $300 which isn't bad at all.

Sony hasn't released the official price and launch date, but:
Sony CEE VP Jim Ryan said that the NGP won't be just for the ultra rich, or the well-off people
it will be for all kind of gamers, such as games for little kids, as games like Cod and Moh, for hardcore gamers
to confirm such action from Sony, Shuhei Yoshida (the SCE president), said the same thing.
i quess that if it will be affordable for kids, it definitly won't be more than 300$/€

I'm personally saving up for it right now. I think that with all of the features its gonna sell like hotcakes. I'm guessing the price will be between $300 - $350 or so. if its released for lower then that it'll be a miracle, but if they do manage to make it lower that $300 it will be sold out everywhere.
P.S. Did anyone hear about a Nazi Zombies coming out for it any where?

I'm personally saving up for it right now. I think that with all of the features its gonna sell like hotcakes. I'm guessing the price will be between $300 - $350 or so.yeah, that's probably the target you should save for if you want to get it (though, that'd probably be for a model without 3G capability).
P.S. Did anyone hear about a Nazi Zombies coming out for it any where?

News: NGP & 3DS game production has ''tripled''
because of all the feautures of the NGP, producing a new game will cost about three times more than on the current PSP
this will probably mean that the games will be more expensive
an example of a 3DS pokémon game, on the normal DS the production cost of pokémon white were about 400.000 dollars
producing it on the 3DS is closer to 1.000.000 dollars
the same counts for the NGP

an interview with MCV, SCEE president Andrew House gave us some news...
lot of ppl thought the PSP GO was a big fail, but i myself owning one, thinks its a great device.
one of the things we still want to know is how the games will be bought.
digital or physical? Andrew House gave the answer to this question: both.
all the games that will be in store will also be downloadable.
but smaller games (mini's and stuff) will probable be downloadable only.
No, they've confirmed the NGP is backwards compatible with all PSP PSN content which includes PSP games, PSone Classics, and Minis.
They're also said that Minis and Suite aren't the same service. Suite targets phones with the bonus of NGP, where as Minis targets PSP with the bonus of PS3.
