On the EU PS store update thread the guy from Sony mentioned that there was no minis in the January sales - then added "why do you think that is?" or words to that effect. Is there a minis sale coming up - if so, when? There are a lot of the 60+ minis I don't have I would pick up at a slightly lower price!

Unless I'm making this up in my mind, last February was Mini's Month, and it went very well, so the likelihood would see a sale early february, I'd like to see some of the great £3.99 and £3.49 reduced to £2.49 which is where I think minis should be priced.

Wow, bladesew, there are only ~60 Minis that you don't have? You must be one of the program's favorite customers. :)
A sale would be nice. I still haven't picked up WTF?! (because there are other Minis I haven't "finished," yet), and that's one of the pricey ones.

I hope zenonia comes on sale. At that price I'd rather dl a ps1 classic.
Oh! The Flying Hamster too!

Amazing sale, shame I haven't got enough money to stock up on all the ones I would like to play, but will still get a fair view. I'm glad I waited a while for some of them!

Nothing for me, most of them I bought or won in past months / years...

Curious that none of the 3 "expensive" scrolling shooters are in either list. I hope there's a North American Minis sale which does include at least WTF?! (since that's the only one of the three I don't have yet).

@Onmode-ky
Seeing as its a fairly new mini (3 months or so) I doubt it. But given my track record in the things I doubt, I now doubt my doubts;)
p.s. I hope we NA get a mini sale too.Posted 1 year ago # -
All those games are 99p? That's pretty good. Pity you have to add £5 at a time...
Anyway, I'll probably pick up Aero Racer. May have a look at some of the others too, seeing as they're so cheap. Pity I already own most of the ones that I would like :P

i know this is already an old thread, but i just want to ask something regarding this \"minis sale and price changes\" topic...
i\'m new with psp minis, but i do have lots of PSP UMDs, i just came across with psp minis while browsing for that PS1 classic Final Fantasy 7 in PSN last september, and i just realized how good psp minis are (1st minis that i bought: age of zombies, ASS for two bucks, and drums challenge), perfect for pickup-n-play type of games, which are actually best played for a PSP system...
so i decided to create my new minis library in my psp, choosing the best games for my taste (big thanks to http://www.pspminis.com for the great reviews of the ps minis)... however, i\'m not that impulsive in buying games, i don\'t care if the game is old or a new released game, as long as it is fun to play, so my buying factor for a game is actually the price XD...
recently i\'ve noticed sales and price changes in PSN, some were free if a PS+ subscriber, (by the way, i don\'t have ps3), and some have their prices lowered... so i just bought another mini (one epic game) when it was already priced as $1.99 last october (originally $3.99 i think), perfect for my wallet load $2.39 XD... as far as i remember one epic game is released last july so it takes 3 months for the price drop...
so my question is,
- do all psp minis also have their prices dropped after a couple of months?? or just majority/minority of the minis?
- will there be a chance that these games (who\'s that flying - $5.99; 4x4 jam - $6.99) be on sale in the future, or were they already priced dropped?? (these are the games i wanted to buy, however it\'s relatively more expensive than the others, and this is what hinders me to buy these games now)
- i have lots of minis wishlist, some were priced $2.99 in average(ninjamurai, run ghost run, etc) is it worth to wait for their sale in PSN? or these are already price dropped (and waiting is useless)?
- were there times that a ps mini was on discount sale, and then a few months or years, it was again on sale?
i\'m asking these questions because i really wanted to make use of my psn wallet to buy great deals in PSN and make my money worth to spend (btw, i just bought another 3 minis = mini squadron $2, echoes $2 or $1, coconut dodge $4, i don\'t know if they are already price dropped) i\'m actually waiting also for some PS1 classice be on sale...

Well, you have some good questions. I think some Minis go on sale periodically, but waiting for every one to go on sale eventually may be futile. For example, one of my favorite games is Zenonia. Its been $6.99 since its release and I have never seen a drop for that one. I can tell you though that one of your choices, WTF?!, is a great game even if it is a little high. I\'m just saying that we would hate for you to wait on a price drop that may not come. And in doing so, you may miss out on some really good titles. You\'ll just have to roll the dice I reckon. If you have more questions, I\'m sure we can help some more if you need.

A lot of minis have been in a sale multiple times, but some, as ChaosRandom has said, have never been in a sale. ;)
P.S. It is annoying if you buy a mini and a few days later it\'s in a sale... but hey they\'re minis, live a little.
Posted 6 months ago # -
Yeah, like that time I bought Wacky Land\'s Boss for 5 bucks only to have it go on sail for about half price 3 days later. Definitely annoying, but o well. Still glad I got it.

I got Coconut Dodge for a dollar. They sales normally just happen randomly with random games. Although it could be worth it for you to pick up the OES Triple Pack when it releases.

Minis going on sale or not going on sale is entirely a question of whether the publisher of a given title decides to do it. Some publishers are more likely to put their games on sale than others. The question of when it happens is also entirely publisher-dependent; there is no set duration for how long after release a title might go on sale or have a price drop (although there are fairly frequent cases of launch prices being lower in order to lure in more early adopters). Come to think of it, there\'s no set duration for any PS Store content having a price drop, which is why so many old releases are still original release price years after they came out. :/
If you happen to buy a Mini right before it goes on sale, just console yourself with the knowledge that you gave more revenue to a maker of a game you enjoy (hopefully one you enjoy, at least). Very few Minis makers are swimming in the dough, after all. Bottom line: don\'t think about it too much unless it\'s way over the price you want to pay.

Well most of what I was going to say has already been said, but don\'t count on WTF?! getting a price drop. None of Mediatonic\'s (Probably Awesome) minis have seen a price drop. I also don\'t believe I\'ve seen a sale for WTF?! yet either.

thanks for the input and shares guys, maybe i was just overthinking of it now, actually i\'m also saving my PSN load for some new PS1 titles that might be released on PSN or just another PS1 discounts, that\'s why i\'m budgeting my future PSN buys...
maybe i was just also bothered by the fact that some minis are more expensive than some of the good PS1 games which normally costs $5.99. so personally, that is my margin in buying minis XD... anyway since some games didn\'t have a sale at all, i think i have no choice but to buy them and enjoy playing it... for the rest of my free time :D, and big thanks again for all your replies.

From what I can tell, minis that don\'t sale too well after they release go on sale, and are usually the ones that get price drops. Also, the better the minis sales, the less likely it is to go on sale or have a price drop.
Anything from Mediatonic is worth the asking price. Their minis tend to hover on the pricier side of the minis, but they also have some of, if not the best production value. The ones that are $6.99 tend to be only if you like the genre type games, like Mighty Flip Champs! DX, Zenonia, and Where Is My Heart?. But I can say, at least on behalf of Zenonia and Mighty Flip, they are great games for their genres.
Me personally, I don\'t mind paying $5.99 or $6.99 for a mini, I just wish I didn\'t have to. But hey, in these economic times, I wish I didn\'t have to pay the price I pay for anything I buy!
But to ANYONE who downloaded Tetris back when it was $9.99, I ask you this one question. Were you on that stuff!?

That\'s why Humble Bundle rules. A PSP Humble Bundle would be wicked :)

I made a comparison between the psp\'s Minis program and the DSi ware\'s program on another thread a while ago, and this is where we have it so much better. The prices here are so much more flexible, and their are frequent sales for us to look forward to. Furthermore, to my knowledge, there is no mini who\'s price is over $7 like their are for DSi Ware games, and I believe we have much more content available for under $5 if my analysis of recent DSi ware updates is correct. So even though we do encounter a lot of annoying problems with unexpected price changes, and though we sometimes wish the prices were lower, we have a lot to be thankful for. Speaking of thankfulness, I know it is completely off topic, but next week is Thanksgiving for us Americans, so to all my fellow American forum-mates, and to all members abroad, Happy Thanksgiving!

Unfortunately, while the Minis program may have lower prices than DSiWare, more flexible pricing options than DSiWare, better promotional possibilities than DSiWare, and a much higher space restriction than DSiWare (20 MB limit there), my inquiries with a few developers revealed that DSiWare was superior to Minis where it counted most: sales figures (typical expectations thereof, anyway). That\'s a key element.
Posted 6 months ago # -
Not surprise the sizes are smaller. DS Games are smaller than PSP Games so that makes sense. And the superior sales almost make sense as DS is more popular.
Posted 6 months ago # -
its ninty, people will buy for the sake of the oldies like mario and zelda and such. i prefer the minis though, catchy way of saying things...minis. speaking of DSiwares, how about some devs give us a castlevania clone or something??? the dsiware had one.
@SpanishBread
FF V is supposed to be out this week or something, FF VI is about 2 more weeks before release.

DS Games are smaller than PSP Games so that makes sense.
I think 20 MB is a pretty low limit even for DS games. Sure, you can make a fun game well under that limit, but the point is that your development ambitions would be restricted far more than with, for example, Minis. Also, I would guess the DS doesn\'t handle compression/decompression as well as the PSP, so that would be even less space to work with.
Posted 6 months ago # -
People who own DS are used to pick up and go titles.
Most blind loyalist use the lack of pick-up-and-go games as an excuse for why the PSP is a \"fail\". \"Handhelds are for quick games. If I want to play console games...\", blah, blah, asinine gibberish. And in some ways, they are right. Alot of PSP owners still don\'t believe minis are worth a second look because they think, PSP = PS2 Portable.
It\'s a shame really.

games like P3P and VC2 proved to me handhelds can still deliver great gameplay regardless of platform, playing on the go is just easier.
