Whats the point of having an only downloadable game in there? surely the point is for those who can't download? i suppose it may be a bit cheaper...but only if you want ALL five games I'd guess. Cool idea i suppose. Particularly nice for those without access to PSN store.

the only way I'm buying a mini's compilation is if it's all from one company
say Frima puts out 2 or 3 more mini's and they then release the whole bundle of joy as a full game, then I'll buy it even though I have them all
I tend to buy these compilations just for 1 or 2 games anyways and from the looks of it I allready own them ... I think most people do so I don't really see the point here either since they are all idividually available

OMG, size of all minis together is so small, that all can be put on one UMD.
Er, no. Let's say the average size of a Mini is 20 MB (which is most likely much too conservative). There are well over 100 Minis now, but let's say there are only 100. Thus, that's 2 GB, which is more than the UMD's 1.7-GB capacity.
Anyway, the reason there are so few per disc is probably so that the value of each game is not diluted, while the disc's price point is kept at a manageable budget level (probably somewhere between 15-20 Euros each). If you put all my 100 20-MB theoretical Minis into one package and kept their average 4-Euro price, that would be a 400-Euro UMD. Even if it were "AN 80% SAVINGS!", that would still be an 80-Euro UMD. Minis are only a little over a year old (and many of those games much less), so I don't think they should be discounted dramatically yet.

I think the majority of PSP owners in the world actually do not ever log in to the PlayStation Store. Your average user of X device does not know most of the features of X device, only the most well known features. While the App Store is a well-publicized aspect of the iOS devices, the PSP's downloadable component is nowhere near as well known among its userbase, I believe. In my opinion, if pspgamer01's information is correct, this UMD release is an attempt to bring these games to that unaware audience, with the "only downloadable" game in each set being an enticement to that buyer to go online and check out the PSP PlayStation Store. In short, this is partly serving as advertising for the Store. However, it's anybody's guess how effective/profitable this venture will be.
I remember before 'PSN Vouchers' I'd never buy anything on the PSN.
I was actually one of those people who bought the ‘PSN Puzzle’ and ‘Action Packs’ on UMD… So I can see where Sony are going with this one. ;)

UMD games also work well for those with kids because:
a) it's easier to share a UMD game between kids who each have their own PSP devices.
b) it's possible to trade in a UMD game for something else once the kids have tired of the game.
Expensive PSPGo devices tend to be owned by adults who aren't as affected by the above two issues.

volcane: I disagree on a). On PSN, purchasing a title gives you the right to download it to up to four systems (AFAIK), so that is better than having to share a UMD. And with kids, it'd be easier to damage a UMD than a digital download, which can be freely replaced anyway. But b) is a very valid point.

I definitely agree that the above approach is the best way in theory but in order to work properly the PSN system needs to support the concept of 'gifting' (like you can on Steam, for instance) so that a parent can 'gift' (aka transfer) a game from their own PSN account to the PSN account of their kids (or anyone else for that matter).
This is because with the current system you can certainly download a PSN game on several different PSP devices that you own (I have done this numerous times) but each device has to use the same PSN account details if you want to access the content purchased by that account.
As a parent, I'm not going to put my own PSN account details onto my kid's PSP devices because my account contains all my financial transaction information. I know you can password that information but it wouldn't take the determined little darlings long to crack that stuff! ;-)

I guess Sony decided to change the compilation contents before release.
PlayStation site says TBC for release date (maybe they haven't updated it yet?) and PS3 compatible (maybe they mean just the downloaded mini is PS3 compatible, don't see how they would make the other ones compatible).
I already have 8 of the minis listed from the compilations and @ $15AUD per volume I'm wondering if I should buy them from Big-W tomorrow for collecting purposes or not.
Damn store is still down so I can't even check what the price difference for purchasing the remaining minis separately would be. :|

So on the basis you're getting a UMD and the downloads of all the games which sounds quite decent. If the price is right (which is obv lower than you can download them) I might get volume 3 as I only have Breakquest and the others sound quite good!
@pspgamer01: Yes my lists are the updated ones from the Sony website so others can compare the changes Sony made between the announcement and the release.
@Identity25: Ah, wonder how I missed that line. That makes the bundle a bit more worth it for me now since I mostly use my PSPgo so the UMD would just be sitting in a draw.
It is also a much better idea than just giving consumers the UMD since it allows developers to continue to offer content and bug fix updates.
I wonder if the download codes will be 5 separate codes or 1 code for each game in the volume. Hopefully the latter so they can be more easily traded for other PSN codes since the page says "PlayStation Network voucher code" instead of "PlayStation Network voucher codes" it probably is just a single combined code I guess. :'(
I ended up buying Mega Minis volumes 1, 2 and 3 about 1 month ago... however, I have already purchased all the minis from volume 2 on my PSN account.
Maybe someone here has some EU redeem codes for 2-3 minis (list of minis I don't have) or a low/mid price PSP game that would like to do a trade?
