PSP Minis

   I was just wondering if Sony will be sponsoring/offering launch week sales/incentives for the Minis? As any iPhone/iPod touch gamer knows, these launch discounts are a huge driver of sales for new games. I'm hoping Sony will offer something similar (or buy this game from developer XYZ get another game from the same developer for 50% off etc.)

   This would be a great way to get the Minis into as many PSPs as possible early on, thus providing fodder for gamers to get the word out on great titles via sites such as this. Positive buzz from early adopters can really have a huge impact on a titles success in the digital marketplace.

   What do you guys think, should Sony/developers offer this?

   Sony really needs to be more inventive than Microsoft has been in terms of promoting their downloadable games. Developers could flock to the system if they feel like Sony is helping to promote their games and help ensure their profitability.

   Agreed. Sony needs to do something here. Even if it doesn't work, at least give developers the feeling that you are trying.

   Sales and incentives would go along way to getting the Minis off to a running start. I mean the whole thing is a great initiative in the first place, but they need to do as much as possible to make it a success.

   I think it could help if Sony had a community manager of sorts for the mini program. Someone out there being a cheerleader for the initiative. Sites like this will help, but we need more official information. Here we are, one day from launch, and we still don't know all that much about what will be on the store tomorrow. :(

   Yeah, well it looks like Sony is not implementing this with any of the minis at the initial launch. I just don't understand the rationale behind not providing a small incentive (say 10% off) for the launch week of these titles. Doesn't Sony understand that when folks see "Sale" they tend to be a little bit more loose with their money?

   This isn't really a Mini but NIS is having a 50% discount at select games.
   So I'm guessing it's up to the companies also when it comes to deciding for a price-drop

   Yeah,I actually saw that Count. I picked up "Prinny: Can I Really be the Hero?" for 10 bucks, and am considering buying "Holy Invasion of Privacy, Badman! What did I do to deserve this?" I wouldn't have even considered buying these titles if they hadn't been on sale for 50% off. So that just shows you that sales on digital titles are effective.
