Hello, I love this website, it has a great community and great coverage of all things minis. But it needs improvements, for one it needs a sticky thread, a way of communicating with fellow members and be able to send them private messages. Also the avatar thing should be more accessible, instead of going to some third party website in order to get one. Why not just have a pic uploaded to this website and use that as an avatar, like in so many other websites. Please if you guys think that other improvements should be made in order to make this place an even greater experience, please comment below with your own list of improvements.

Nice thread. I was wondering how to get an avatar, but I didnt wanna look dumb so I didnt say anything. Sticky threads would be great. I like the PM idea to. What about a PSP Minis walk through section for games? Just an idea.

@ChaosRandom
That is a great idea, it would be nice to have a walk through section for minis games. It can be created by users. This site needs to expand more, we need more ideas to improve it even more. Now if only one of the creators of this site would read this it would be nice.

maybe they don't have enough people/programmers for this site.
i've also asked if this site be on Metacritic , since they have a lot of Minis reviews that are not available at other sites.
I think they applied to be on Metacritic 3 months ago. Wonder what happened to it?Posted 1 year ago # -
That would be really cool if we had a walkthrough/cheat section on this website.

Yeah, support in the forum for sticky threads, private messages, file attachments, quote attribution, and a bunch of other stuff that I'm used to at AtariAge.com's forum (my advertisement for the day!) would be nice. Heck, I've been shooting low, just trying to get the spelling of "separated" fixed at the bottom of each thread, where it currently says "comma seperated." :) However, forum software, particularly very powerful forum software, costs money. I think that may be one of the barriers (but, as I am just guessing, don't take that to be necessarily true).

The developers and games lists are good. An regularly-updated "upcoming releases" list would be great too.

We are looking into improving the site (physically and features-wise)as of now we are looking into putting a "Related Post" feature since older posts tend to get buried a lot. Now we can add the sticky thread to our to-do list.

That's cool.

Ha! We got noticed. Nice!

I like the idea of having a walkthru section that we could all participate in.

We should be able to edit things monthes after posting them, instead of before an hour
Posted 1 year ago # -
The edit time limit at AtariAge.com's forum is the same as here, an hour (or at least something very close). It was indefinite at one time, but the administrator, Al, changed the settings because he found that some users had gone back and completely blanked out all their posts, going back years. Probably to preserve the integrity of the discussion threads, he changed the settings and instituted an edit time limit (however, on a case by case (i.e., per post) basis, he can allow indefinite edit privileges if requested). So, I'm in favor of keeping the current time limit here. At most, maybe extend it to a day or so, I'd say.

I'm not really getting the whole timed edit thing. Sometimes people can go back and reread what they wrote, and realize, hey maybe I was a jerk, and delete what they wrote or edit it in a better manner. So what if someone goes and blanks out their posts, it's their opinions, their thoughts, they should be able to do with them as they want. People change their minds, and have changes of the heart all the time, and if they want an older post to reflect that, why deny them that option.
I mean, discussions are basically a place people go and just talk about random things, and with this site, even though we butt heads a few times, it gets resolved pretty quick. It seems unfair to punish someone who post something, comes back 2hrs later and can't edit a simple spelling error they missed, because the administrator is preserving the integrity of the discussion threads.

I can't claim to know the "real" reason for any given forum administrator to choose to disallow indefinite edit permissions; what I said about preserving the integrity of the discussion threads is just what I hypothesize. After all, one of the useful attributes about an Internet discussion forum is the fact that it can be read by others in the future. It's not there only for the participants themselves. So, for future readers, if items got edited, it can end up distorting or confusing the recorded discussion. Basically, it's permission to rewrite history. But, again, that was just my guess. There may be some other, more pragmatic reason for disallowing indefinite edits that is completely over my head.
As for editing because I was a jerk when I wrote it, well, the easy way around that is to never be a jerk, right? :P

How about a minis of the month article every month? You guys have a final thought on all the minis released that month, and then you pick which is the must play mini, out of the ones released that month.
Also a eye's on type thing. You guys can interview a minis developer. Get juicy information on what they are working on, what's it's like working for said developing company, just the usual interview type stuff. It would be cool to know more about the developers.

Is there currently any way to embed videos?
I think that would be good addition for the forums, if it is not already possible.

I just thought of a quick fix to solve the private message thing until it becomes a feature. I noticed a few people here, I myself recently did it, have their Youtube channel's linked to there profile. Anyone up for the idea of private messaging could do the same, and then messages can be shared privately that way.

I am!

I just linked my Youtube channel and have a question, how do you get a picture on it?

Alright Balrog, I guess we'll be beta tester's of sorts. Check your inbox.

sticky's are a must. pms too. why can we not delete posts? i keep double posting when my psp disconnects or times out.
the layout displays great on my psp btw, albeit wider than ideal.
would it be possible to have extra input fields in the edit post screen so i don't have to double/triple post when i run out of input room? maybe a 'continue post' feature?
also, an add rating feature for user ratings instead of the current poll method we use. a simple rating average feature as well...
Posted 1 year ago # -
...the current polling method for user ratings is clumsy and inefficient. it would be nice if each game had it's own thread for user reviews and general discussion, shown on the game listings table. the sites official reviews are very thorough, but it would be nice to quickly see other's opinions. also allow us to change our ratings. some games turn out to be much better/worse than their initial impressions show
(this was a double post before i edited. i disconnected... no seriously. case in point btw)

@confuletlyf
I agree with the user ratings thing, and was thinking of making a ratings overview topic type thing with the average rating of every game (WTF?! is in the lead!:)Posted 1 year ago # -
this is a bump... has anyone emailed an admin about this? should we?

Following up from discussion in this thread, I suggest that the site maintain a list of Minis that have had updates or patches, including the current version number or at least the date the most recent version was made available.
Posted 1 year ago # -
Patch list would be good. Also, I was thinking it would be nice if it were possible to have a more PSP-compatible site. At the moment, the site is clearly optimized for PC usage. It would be nice if (a version of) the site was more specialised for use on an actual PSP. Just a thought.
And about the "decent forum software costs money" thing; Phorum is free (http://www.phorum.org/). It has PMs etc. I have used one forum which uses this software, and it's quite nice. Forum software works well.
Posted 1 year ago # -
Agreed - a patch list would be extremely useful.
