I am a latecomer to the PSP, but I've found that when I try to play multiplayer with wi-fi against other players, there's no one on. Is the multiplayer network still up? Why aren't there any other people playing? Maybe I'm not waiting long enough or doing something wrong.
I don't quite get the wi-fi multiplayer aspect of PSP

No people are around. I think the trick is finding a game everyone is playing. What Infrastructure game do you have? Remember a lot of games are Ad Hoc only.

I have a few games I'd like to play with people online on PSP.
Midnight Club: LA
Hot Shots: Tennis Get a Grip
Hotshots Golf: Open Tee 2Are the main ones. I haven't spent a huge amount of time on it, but generally I wait and no one shows up. I'm talking about the online gaming, not the one where someone is in the same room as you.

Well, there are two types of it: Ad-hoc (which is people in the room) and infrastructure (which is online).
Most games only support Ad-hoc. And many of the older games that do support infrastructure have had their server's shut down.
I think of those tree games, only Hot Shots Golf has Infrastructure. Midnight Club might have had it, but the servers are almost certainly down if it was (it's an old, old game). Tennis doesn't have it, just ad-hoc.

Is there a place where I can find a list of games that currently have servers up for infrastructure multiplayer for PSP?
I'm afraid perhaps the psp has passed it's time for multiplayer, the vita might revive it. And I don't want to buy a game for multiplayer without knowing if the server for it has shut down or not.

I've posted this before but haven't tried it out myself yet: from what I've read on gamefaqs forums, the online community is more dead than would be expected because many people use the AdHoc add on on their PS3. It's supposed to let you play games online via adhoc mode, and supports headsets. That being said, I don't know how often you'll actually find populated rooms, though apparently you can search for rooms by game before loading up any game in particular.
Can anyone confirm or disprove this? (To use the AdHoc add on you have to install it from the Playstation Store, and have your PS3 on a wired internet connection. It cannot be supported while using a wireless internet connection)
OH! I did find 3 other players online when I first got Fat Princess, just after the price drop...
