This is a really good thread idea actually - I'd be interested in understanding the age demographic of the average PSP minis players. I bet there are quite a few older players among the ranks?
While simple inexpensive games of course have great appeal to younger players, I suspect that there is a strong interest by the older players as well. Those of us with busy work & home lives often find that our gaming time is limited (time becomes a precious commodity when you are married with two kids and have a busy job!).
I'm a very keen gamer and have been all my life. I predominantly play PC games (I am still finding new Quake 1 maps/mods to play, I follow/enjoy several Half Life 1/2 maps/mods and I was an early betatester for Quake Live) but my PSP comes with me everywhere and gets used every single day. I usually have several full triple-A titles that I'm working through in parallel but these typically each take me months to play through (I've only just today finished Dante's Inferno and I'm still only halfway through Wipeout Pure and Motor Storm Arctic Edge). I love the minis games for their awesome value for money, great production values and (importantly) for their bite-sized gameplay.
I think the bite-sized gameplay aspect to the minis appeals to the older/busier gamers out there, because we know that we can play through a mini over the course of a week, having great fun dipping in and out as time allows, or even blast through over a weekend. Given the fantastic quality of many of the minis produced so far, they are a very rewarding experience IMHO.
What's interesting is that I have two kids (14 & 10) and we have three PSPs in the house and yet it is so far only my wife and I that seem to play the PSP mini games. We both look forward to PSN Thursday (is it now Wednesday?) in order to check out the latest releases and usually wait excitedly for the reviews to appear on this site! My wife put in about 70 hours gameplay into Stand O' Food and is now doing something similar with Monopoly! :-)

Thanks volcane! I more started this thread because, like you, I was interested in seeing the average age of Minis players. If you don't want to, you don't have to post your birthday, but your age is something of interest. I was thinking I would (after around a week or so) officially average the ages announced here, and maybe come up with the average age! It's not something of great importance, but it is intriguing.

hmmm, kind of a creepy topic tbh :). lol
well I guess I'll join in and say I'm 16.Posted 1 year ago # -
LOL welcome to the party, Prince! :) I know peepz would think that, but I thought maybe sharing only their age would be OK with them. I was just curious of the general age span of Minis players.

I am 54 and enjoy the diversion of playing my PSP. Long plane trips, when my wife is in the crafts store, and many other places. Birthday is in December. I would like to see more "classic" games like Burger Time, Pac Man, etc.

I recently entered my 30s. First home system was my GameCube bought in late 2004. First handheld system was the original Game Boy, a gift in 1990. Have played PC games since the EGA graphics days (was a bit jealous of the IIgs, Amiga and ST graphics for a time; didn't use a C64/128 or ][ except in school), though none in the past several years. As noted in another post, I gravitate toward scrolling shooters, RPGs, and pinball, along with various retro arcade types like Pac-Man (big fan). Engineering major. Enjoy science fiction a lot, in particular Star Trek and Doctor Who, and am a bit of an anime otaku. Fluent in English, conversational in Japanese, Chinese, and German, mildly capable of reading Latin. Enjoy potatoes.

I just turned 17 last month.
First platform I got that was just mine, and not something I jointly owned with my brother was a Gameboy Color.

I'm 30, been playing games for the past 20 years. I used to own a Neo Geo, spent nearly $120 per game (what was I thinking) and here's the worst part...I traded it for a panasonic 3DO, one of the worst gaming consoles known to man!

Huh, so being born one day later would have meant you were only 3 right now. Living on the edge!
Actually, only 2, not 3; Y2K was not a leap year.
