We have a high score thread here already for a very specific portion of the recent mini-game collections from Sony and Clap Hanz, but I thought I'd start a new one for the full set's overall stats. Here are my best stats. These are mostly just the top 5 letter grades shown at the Stats screens for each game type, bunched together into 5-character strings (e.g., ABBCD); I thought that painted a better picture of performance than just showing the single best grade, so that the reader could see whether that was an outlier (*ahem* just a fluke). For game types where I haven't played 5 rounds, the extra slots in the 5-character strings are filled by dashes:
Blue Pack:
- Soccer Derby - Demolition Mode: CCCCC; Time Attack Mode: BCCCC; High score: 196,000 (Hearts City); Best time: 00;52.89 (Hearts City)
- Karate - Score Mode: ABBBB; Promotion Mode: AAAA-; Endless Mode: ABBBB; High score: 6,590/0.41s; Best rank: Legend/0.41s; Longest combo: 262/0.42s
- Tractor Derby - Time Attack Mode: ABBBB; High Score Mode: ABB--; Best time: 00:43.60; High score: 38,200
Red Pack:
- Face à la Crème - Easy: S----; Normal: AAABB; Hard: AACEE; Special: AABCC - Best score and best average per-hit score: 15630 and 91 (Normal)
- Bookshelf Dash - 20 Books: CDEEE; 30 Books: CEE--; 40 Books: CDD--; 50 Books: CDD--; Fix 20: CCCDD; Fix 30: BCCCC
- Blitz SNAFU - Normal Mode: BE---/Max level = 16; Veteran Mode: C----/Max level = 7
Yellow Pack:
- Vacuum Dash - AC---; High score: 117,960
- Clean-Up Hitter - Low Speed: BBBCC; Med Speed: BCD--; High Speed: A----; All: BD---; Super High Speed: BBBCC - Max distance, any speed: 531 ft.
- Tillage Pillage - Basic: SBBBB; Advanced: BBBBC; Expert: BDDDD; Best time: 00:37.74/321 ft. (Basic)
Green Pack:
- Counter Crusader - AA---; Longest combo = 416; Max level = 30; Max enemies defeated = 4,374
- K.O. Derby - Normal: SSCC-/Max level = 85; Hard: S----/Max level = 77; Bone Crusher: SBCDD/Max level = 107
- Rush Hour Master - 100 Cars: SAAAA; 300 Cars: ABCCC; 1000 Cars: CCCDD; Top speed, any mode: 248 MPH (multiple occasions)
If we judge by how much time I spent with each pack, I seem to like Green the most. But, they all have pretty good content. Several games, though, take too much time to play, I think: "Blitz SNAFU," "Vacuum Dash," and "Counter Crusader" require you to play nonstop for a while in order to count as having done well.
Random thoughts:
- Several of the games either change characters or outfits if you hold L or R while choosing the game type.
- Has anyone seen what rank(s) is/are after Legend in the "Karate" Promotion Mode?
- I constantly got hampered in "Karate" by misread button inputs and bizarrely delayed button responses. My second-highest combo count in Endless Mode is 100 lower than my highest.
- Does anyone actually do well in "Bookshelf Dash"??? I thought I was pretty good at that kind of thing, but the game says I suck. Regardless, I liked the unranked mode, where you got all sorts of strange things to sort.
- As far as I can tell, the key to success in "Blitz SNAFU" is to simply take it slowly to stay out of range of enemies as much as possible. Too slow for my taste.
- Is it just my eyes, or does "Clean-Up Hitter" feature some scantily clad characters on the billboards?
- I played a lot of "Tillage Pillage," but not because I enjoyed it. . . . The constant frustration with the controls pushed me on with the "I know I can do better" mentality. And, it really sucks that the Roman numerals sometimes spin around; "IV" and "VI" already look too close in and of themselves, damn it! It was probably easier in Japanese.
- I never was able to pick up another weapon in "Counter Crusader."
- I unlocked all but 1 character in "K.O Derby" (and got the alternate color scheme for seven, I think). Has anyone unlocked the Heavyweight Balanced guy (bottom left corner of the character selection screen)?
- I couldn't do well in 1000-car mode for "Rush Hour Master" at all. Has anyone done well there? My noted top speed, by the way, was achieved in 300- and 1000-car modes, but not 100-car mode.
- In German territories, does this game have a rank above S, namely ß? :P For non-German speakers, that's the equivalent of a double-S.
