I know with the current Ghost Town like feel that the minis program has been giving off that this may be the only Awards, but if it is I want to do something special for the program. But I need your help.

Recommend catagories that you want to see minis nominated for. Things such as, Most Popular, Most Underrated, Best Soundtrack, etc., and then we can pick which ones to use. Once we get that out of the way we can then nominate minis for the catagories, and then vote!

The developers and publishers have been working hard to provide us with the most bang for our bucks, I think we should show them a little appreciation.

but yeah it's a good 'n fun idea
we need a 'best zombies game category' since every other mini seems to feature the buggers

and there need to be actual prices, something cheap someone can send out, say 5 to 10 eurers including shipping

could just be a card or something

That's true. But not all minis sell well, so the developer/publisher may not feel the love. Hopefully the minis we vote for and nominate will see a few more sales because people will look at the winners and the nominees and say, "Man, I might just go ahead and buy that/those mini(s).".

I guess I could buy some cards and mail them to the winning developers/publishers. That way they have something to show off. It's not much, but it's better than nothing.

Maybe we could have a 'most pollished mini catergory' or a 'guilty pleasure mini category' or maybe even an 'I can't believe it's not crack category'. :D

It's all good with me TB! Guilty Pleasure is actually a really cool one. Flying Hamster is the mini I'd nominate for that. I don't know if you guys know this or not, but I'm not a big fan of shooters, but man that little hamster is so freaking cute!

I should note that since this hasn't been done before, all minis can be nominated. It wouldn't be fair if the minis released before this year get looked over.

Greatest Hit - Best mini yet.
Mini of the Year
Best Soundtrack
Biggest Little Hero - Greatest mini protagonist.
Biggest Little Villain - Greatest mini villian.
Most Creative Mini
Little Big Dog - Best developer.
Most Underrated Mini

Those are a few categories I've come up with so far.

I guess I could help but the size of my Minis collection really pale in comparison to all of you. It wouldn't be as fair since my answers would be limited to what I've played.

Oh oops. you just want nominations. I could help with that. Aside from standard 'best <insert genre here>' categories, there's the normal "best graphics," "best level design," "best replayability." If I think of more I'll mention it.

Of course you guys can vote! I too take time out to appreciate myself from time to time.

I myself have a modest mini collection. 31 mini's I believe. But even if you only have 2 or 3, those are 2 or 3 minis you can speak up for.

Since this is for the minis program, I think maybe it'll be best to have a fairly small number of categories. Plus, chances are high that not a lot of members are likely going to participate with this, so maybe we should decide on a number of categories. 10-15 categories seems like a good number, with the essential Best of categories and a few mini special ones. What do you guys think?

When I first started doing reviews here, it was far more of a ghost town. I had to wait a month before I could do a review, since there would only be 1 (or none) released a week. Right now, we've got a review backlog, actually.

But I like your idea, and when you've decided on categories I can make a news post on the front page about it, if you want.

Yeah I like the idea but if it's going to have only 10-15 categories then I would suggest don't use any genre-type ones like Best Platformer. That in itself would take up all the slots.

Flying Hamster has quite an infectious soundtrack, too, as does Mighty Flip Champs! DX.

Ozma Wars does not. :)

That would be great Jeremy. I had intended to ask once I got everything organized.

It doesn't have to be just 10-15 categories. I didn't know if there would be enough interest in this to have too many, but it seems people are interested enough, so we can shoot for as many as we can.

I'm going to post genre types, add any that I miss.

RPG? Or is Zenonia the only mini RPG? If it is then perhaps Best Customisable Mini.

Zenonia is the only real RPG. Young Thor has RPG elements, but it's not a RPG. I think Zenonia would best be classed in the Action/Adventure Genre. Otherwise it wins by default. But, this is a community effort, so if any one else would like to see RPG have it's own category, just say the word.

How about a MVP category? The mini that is not that high up on peoples top 10, but is one that 95% of the community would recommend anyone try.

I think we should only have genre categories for games in which there are a lot of. Things like 'best pinball game' is pretty redundant since there's only two pinball Minis in total. Same with RPG. As far as I know Zenonia is the only one.

This. Also having too many categories would make these prizes boring, we shouldn't have more than 2-3 prizes by genre.

Now we need a few more suggestions like Best Soundtrack, Guilty Pleasure, MVP, etc.

Also, How many nominees should there be per category? 5?

I think between 3 & 5 nominees per category is enough. ;)

Most novel mini category
Most ground breaking mini category
Most replayable mini category
Most content for a mini category
Most value for your buck category

I like the categories Thumbbandit chose and yes, 3 to 5 nominations are good enough.

Nooo I mean webpage loading. It seems a lot better now than before though. Previously I kept getting connection timed out errors and it was only through this webpage and nowhere else.

I saw that slowness earlier today, too. Perhaps the server had its CPU being chewed on by some runaway process.

cr7camiao, aren't you getting a little ahead of the game? :) That's a question that comes even after "Who won?"!

Here's a category that I think would be funny (but this isn't an actual suggestion, for obvious reasons): "Most likely not to be liked even by volcane." :P Or how about "Most blatant clone"? "Most audacious money grab"? But enough of talking about the birds and the bunnies. I'm more curious about where thumbbandit draws the line between being novel and ground-breaking.

No, YOU da man! :D onmode-ky is referencing to one game in particular, Random. A bunny that tried to be a crab, that should be a big enough hint.

I miss volcane. :( He's always so positive, and I could use some of his positivity after this long week.

Let's go ahead and put a lid on the categories, so we can start nominating.
