Alright, here\'s my verdict on AMY so far.
It\'s not that bad. The game looks good for what it is, but one thing sticks out as good, the sound. They but a lot of effort into the sounds in the game. From glass cracking under your feet as you step on it, to the eerie sounds the zombies make. It all sounds great. But the voice acting is a bit awkward at times.
I completed the trial, purchased it and cut my 360 off, so I don\'t have much experience with it, but the controls are really hit and miss. moving around by yourself is painless for the most part. Amy\'s caretaker (I forgot her name already) gets really blocky when she runs. She can\'t make sharp turns, and it only gets worse if you\'re holding Amy\'s hand.
Combat is just a head scratcher. I know they could have come up with something better than what\'s there. I hate to say it, but it\'s horrible. You attack in an awkward fashion and maybe you\'ll hit what you\'re swinging at, it\'s a 50/50 chance most times. Dodging is just as bad as you can only do a quick step back, and so far combat has been in fairly close spaces, so I found myself with my back against a wall hoping I kill this zombie before it kills me.
Health regenerates very slowly when Amy isn\'t near you. I actually find that to be a plus, since it adds to the sense of panic that the game tries to setup. I\'m not too familiar with the survivor horror genre, so I\'m not the best judge at what game gets the panic right or not, but I was uneasy more often than not while I was playing the trial. I imagine I\'ll get used to it soon though.
The game doesn\'t do you any favors by pointing you in the right direction. It points you in the general direction, but it kills the mode when you\'re running around trying to figure out what to do next. And the one puzzle I came across in the trial was just random and unnecessary.
Having Amy follow you around isn\'t as much of a hassle as I thought it was going to be, I just wish you could change how you hold Amy\'s hand. Instead of constantly holding the RB, I wish you could hit it once to hold her hand, and again to let it go. Which you very well could do, I didn\'t poke around the settings too much.
To add to the control problems, there are unused buttons on the controller, but button combinations that require you to hold one button and press one of the unused buttons. I don\'t get why they didn\'t just assign that command to the unused button. But again, you may be able to customize the controls. I\'ll get back to you on that sometime soon.
I know it sounds mostly bad, but there are some good things about it. Right now the story is a more interesting than I thought it would be. The game sounds great. It looks good for a budget download title. You get alot for the asking price, 5 Chapters totaling 1.55GB worth of game, for $10.
It\'s not a great game. I just barely find it good. But it\'s something different and it does enough right to make you forget a bit about what\'s wrong. So far, I give it a 6/10.
Since I just started, that number could go up, or it could go down. \'ll chime back in once I beat the game, and give you an update.
