I heard that Frima Studio is about (in the coming weeks) to unveil their new Mini title.
I may be able to have some more info on it soon... :)
Until then, what do you think it could/should be ?

I havent a clue;)
Frima?
Young Thor 2. Either that or something out of nowhere.
I'd bet on something different ;)
More on this soon, when I get some approval to talk about it :P
Young Thor was a big success but I think they'll go a different direction. It would also be good for them to show a range of talent.
@MickD
Be sure to tell us when you can!
I want a first person shooter :D
I know it's probably not going to happen but I still want it!
@sp3c
I'm with you there dude! Would looove an FPS/Doom clone :-)
My bet's on a 2.5D side scroling platformer. ;)
A mini FPS! That would certainly be great but I wonder how it could be done with minimal budget and be worth playing.
Any suggestion on that ? I mean Doom is cool but outdated. Most new gamers will not adhere to this formula. Plus a complete campaign is probably going to bust any 'mini' budget real quick.
I'm thinking maybe something in the vein of Portal could do the trick...like puzzle based...any idea ?
Doom is one of the purest forms of classic FPS gameplay and as such I think this type of game fits in well with the Minis platform, which is ideally suited for classic/retro gaming. Doom certainly doesn't have the bells and whistles that modern FPS titles do but that is part of it's charm I think and is what would make a Doom clone perfect as a Mini :-)
Doom was first released in 1993 and has been ported to pretty much every computer system known to man (including many mobile phones and PDAs). The gaming community has 17 years of experience tweeking and polishing Doom clones. If any game can be ported to the PSP, then it would be Doom! ;-)
If you look at Gravity Crash, the core gameplay is much older than Doom. However the Gravity Crash team took tried & tested gameplay mechanics, added some additional polish and devious level design, and incorporated modern player content generation tools. Gravity Crash is a classic retro game snuggled in a stunningly contempory package.
It would be great to see the FPS genre given similar treatment! :-)
I absolutely loved Portal. It combined deceptively devious first-person puzzle solving with a great storyline. A Portal-type Mini game would also be awesome!
I dont care about the gameplay of portal as much as I like GLaDOS!
I'd go for a more Wolfenstien 3d clone on minis,
where the y axis is eliminated.
but with a more doomish setting, you can hardly go wrong with demons!
yeah, a old style fps would certainly me nice for minis.
A mini FPS! That would certainly be great but I wonder how it could be done with minimal budget and be worth playing.
but it depends on the engine and the tools I suppose
if you had to write them all first then I don't think it'd be very profitable.
on the other hand it could be a longer term project with the story cut up into seperate episodes. Then every mini would be one episode ... maybe when there's 5 or 6 you could bundle them and add multiplayer and all that for a full PSP release, maybe even on UMD if there's enough demand but PSP probably isn't going to last that long anymore anyways
but in the end I don't know ... I just want more FPS :D

I'd like something like Duke Nukem 3d :D
back in the day it was still simple enough to play with just the keyboard so I think that's pretty much the best PSP can do well
on the other hand you should check out medal of honor heroes ... boring as it is, the controls are really well done
I don't think it would be much different then something like Young Thor would it??but it depends on the engine and the tools I suppose
While I've never really worked on a FPS (aside from a personal project), I believe that you need something "grander" for a FPS to work. I have some difficulty imagining 'bite-sized' FPS gameplay other than maybe a puzzle-game à la Portal. Yeah, we could do a Duke Nukem or Doom clone but wouldn't it feel a lesser game if it had only 4-5 levels? And that is not talking about the nostalgia factor our game would NOT have.
Maybe I'm wrong too! I would love to play some Duke Nukem on my PSP :D
it is a lesser game, it's mini :D
but why not revisit some or all of these levels once or twice
for instance first time you go scout the area, second time you clear the area and third time the area gets attacked or you have to patroll around ... then you get 4 or 5 levels too
in racegames they mirror the circuits sometimes (all the time? I only play arctic edge ;)) to get new maps I think it's cheap but then again so are mini's ;)
and deathmatch against bots would be awesome
but in the end I dunno, I just made mods way back in the day and never finished one ;)

Not at all! As @sp3c says, it is a Mini game after all! :-)
One easy way (and forgiveable, in a Mini) to increase replayability in a Mini FPS would be to randomise enemy placement so that you get a different combat experience each time.
Ah shizz a Petz MMO, just what I wanted!
I can definitly say it's not Frima's next Mini title ;)
Of course it isn't. Petz is owned by Ubisoft, duh!
Maybe Frima is making a Minis version of the lawnmower game. You know, the game where your character walks back and forth all over a lawn, pushing a mower, in order to change all the grass from dark green to light green. And that's it. Like a 2D Q*Bert, but without enemies. Brilliant!
In all seriousness, while that may not even get approval by Sony, if you put it on the App Store and priced it at US $500, you might still get a few sales!
Takao are you a man????? or just a little boy? cuz when you like petz... O_o
Hahaha, I was just joking pspgamer01.
Frima is making a Petz MMO though.
Yep they are :

But the next Mini is going to be way better :D

that should happen anyways, I honestly don't understand why it doesn't :D
hell I think it should happen in any game in any genre
I hate going back to a game I loved back in the day and still know exactly when who is going to show up
@sp3c
Agreed!
A great example of where this is done right, is the AI Director in Left 4 Dead. This makes each playthrough of the game different, tailoring enemy placement and even gameplay events to the skill levels and progression of the players. It works really well and makes every time you play the game unique.
Well it looks like I can't reveal anything right now, but we're about to submit for ESRB ratings so hopefully this week or the next you should know about our new game :)
I hope you'll like it, I personnaly think it's our best game yet.
And I'm really eager to be able to talk more about it too....
Stay tune !
I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We are tuned. :)
Im all ears man. Cant wait for the announcement.
@MickD
Can't wait to learn more! :-)
That would be cool if you guys made a game like that old school arcade game called "Gauntlet". (I really like dungeon crawler games as you can see with all my forums I created.)
