Hi everyone,

Just a quick one to say that we at Laughing Jackal are giving away 20 SCEE/SCEA 'Cubixx' codes via our Twitter and Facebook pages. Competition details can be found at our blog, but here's a link in case you aren't subscribed - and if not, why not? ;)

We're giving the codes away for two reasons: one, to celebrate the upcoming 1st birthday of Minis next week and two, to celebrate the announcement of our new full PS3 title exclusive to the PSN Store. For now it has the working title of 'Cubixx HD'.

The blog post lists some early details on the game - we're really going to town on this one and including a whole host of features to really add to the simple-yet-addictive gameplay and to massively boost the lifespan of the game. It's gonna be sweeeeeet. :)

Incidentally, if anyone has any ideas for a 'proper' name for the game, we'd love to hear you. Let us know here, on our Facebook or Twitter pages, or even better via the blog.

I just didn't know if it just sounds like regular Cubixx at higher def, which it is at the basic level, but there's gonna be loads more stuff jammed in there so it seems to me to be selling it a little short. :|

What about Cubixx Cubed or Cubixx Squared (lovely oxymoron!) but with the little number symbols instead of the full words for 'Cubed' and 'Squared'? If we went with Cubed would people think it was a 'threequel' in error? I just don't know anymore!! :)

Seriously, though, how generous are we with the free codes though, eh? Now, if only there was some way we could force people to tell their friends/families/random strangers about the games before they could redeem their codes! jk ;)

Yesterday I even jokingly suggested 'Rubixx Cubixx', which I am now starting to think actually sounds good, and hey, the name's spelt differently, right? ;) lol

Hey, Al, where is the tweet with "#CubixxComp" in it? Can't retweet what I can't find.

I think you should go with CubiXXX. It would have to be rated Adults Only, though, and it would have to play like a 3D version of those Qix clones that revealed nude images under the playfield. Obviously, you'd only release it on the Japanese PS Store.

I've reached Stage 8 or so while playing Cubixx, and I've got a question for the Jackals in the house: does the game change any, after that? So far, it looks like the stages just get harder/faster; I haven't seen any new elements since the addition of the sparks that travel on the edges. I don't think I can progress much further, so I'm curious if I'm missing out on anything.

Also, what do the stats in the upper left corner mean? "Line" seems to be some kind of timer, and "Area," well, I'm not really sure. The combo meter, does it max out at 6x? I had thought that it incremented every time you crossed a face boundary, but watching footage on YouTube seems to show it only incrementing for a new face.

Last question: you're giving away 11 Ace Armstrong codes . . . but why 11? Kind of an unusual prize count. Anything to do with me?

Oh, and regarding your upcoming Adults Only CubiXXX, instead of having a giant glowing sphere in the center of the cube, it would have to be a giant glowing 3D model of--I'll just let your imaginations take over from there.

as long as its more, and not less than what was intended, I dont think it'll upset too many people! other than your bosses perhaps. :)

Here's some answers to your questions about the mighty Cubixx:

1.) The line counter shows the length of the line you're currently drawing.

2.) Area shows how big an area of the total surface area your last line removed.

3.) The combo meter does indeed max out at x 6 - you reach this limit by cutting into each of the cube's faces in a single line.

4.) Regarding Cubixx HD, we haven't determined exactly what'll go in the centre of the cubes, although we're trying to make this a lot more varied than what was seen in the original game, obviously! ;)

What about the question about what happens beyond Stage ~8? Are there new enemies/hazards? Are there sudden "twists"? Does it do like Pac-Man Plus and make the walls disappear on occasion? :P
