A nice clone of the classic Breakout. I love this game genre and BrickBreaker is a nice addition to the Minis.
I recently formatted my MMC so my current high score isn't the best I can do. Anyway, here goes:
High Score: 65.550

Yes, I own BreakQuest. I always wanted to like it, but to me the controlling (even in the updated game version) isn't very good. No matter how hard I tried to change the pad sensitivity and speed I always felt the gameplay wasn't optimal and ultimately that ruined the game. It looks neat though, but gameplay-wise it's not my cup of tea. I also prefer the more classic Breakout clones to begin with, the ones without too many bells and whistles. Thanks for the recommendation though. :)
Have either of you tried Beta Bloc? In the US PS Store, at least, it's published by D3 Publisher. I believe it's an old UMD release (one of D3's Simple series in Japan), though possibly not so in the US. It's a $5 game, 30 MB in size, though it's not a Mini, and the gameplay is supposedly a mix between Breakout-style and RPG. Or, that's what I read, anyway. I'm curious how well it did that genre mixing.

I haven't tried Beta Bloc but it sounds a very intriguing concept. Here is a quote I found on the net:
Beta Bloc is a Breakout-style (ask your dad) bat and baller/adventure title from Japanese developer Sandlot. The game takes place in a vast, evil labyrinth. Turning the PSP vertically, you use the directional buttons to bounce the Energy Ball, defeat monsters and destroy all blocks, stage by stage. It's a simple case of progression by block destruction that allows you to go on to the next stage.
In a neat RPG-like twist, your Paddle ('bat' to Breakout-style game virgins) gains experience points as you clear each stage. Its LV (Level) goes up after gaining a certain amount of points. Your goal is to clear all labyrinths and defeat the big boss. There is also a two-player option for those who want to battle against a human - just on case the AI is too tough for you!
I saw that it was on the UK PSN for £2.39, so I thought it was worth a punt. I've picked it up today, but I haven't gotten around to trying it yet. It will be interesting to see how easy it is to play if I have to turn my PSPgo on it's side to play lol! ;-)
The UK Amazon has some screenshots here (which look nice).
Thanks for the heads-up regarding an interesting looking game!
I'll let you know what I think once I get chance to give it a go...

Hehe, yes, please give it a go on the Go on the go.
I have Beta Bloc on UMD, (I got it for a fiver a few years ago) and I think it's a hidden gem... It's the only game I own that you hold the PSP verticaly. ;)
OK, gotta try Beta Bloc too, thanks for the heads up.
However, anyone care to comment on the topic please heheh? :D
