Argh, help me decide what game to get for mah PSP.

I can't decide what game to get, Alpha Mission II or After Burner: Black Falcon.

I have After Burner Climax on PSN and it's pretty awesome. BF looks similar so it'd be fun to play it on the go. It has lots of unlockables too and I have no other PSP game with the same type of gameplay. It is, however, more expensive than the other game.

Alpha Mission II is a vertical SHMUP which is a genre I like, but I also have tons of other SHMUPs on my PSP so I don't know if I should get yet another one. It is cheaper though, than BF, and if I get it, it'd be my first Neo Geo game ever. Bosses look rad...

What should I get?

Ace Combat is better then After Burner

just saying

don't know After mission so I'm not voting but I found Afterburner to be mediocre
it does what it should do and all but it isn't supposed to do a whole lot :D

Nice, but I didn't ask for that game so that didn't answer my question. I already said I liked Afterburner Climax so I already know about BF's gameplay. I want something arcade-y, so no Ace Combat.

I don't have an answer tothe question other then afterburner isn't very good and I don't know the other so I recommended Ace Combat which is in the same genre as Afterburner

I posted it because this way if somebody else knows the other one and can share his or her feelings about that one YOU can make YOUR own decision

but now I wish I hadn't because I dislike your attitude

I'd go for Alpha Mission II, not just because I have no particular interest in After Burner (though that cockpit arcade cabinet sure looked awesome in the 80s), but also because:

- it's a scrolling shooter
- the preview video on the PS Store for it makes it look quite nice (I think it was its weapon variety that really impressed me)
- SNK Playmore probably needs your support for the NeoGeo Station initiative more than Sega needs your support of a legacy UMD title that they've probably forgotten about by now
- it's cheaper, though still more money than I think it should be (come on, an early 90s arcade game should not cost more than PS1 Classics)

like sp3c said you should get ace combat, but out of these two i think alpha mission 2 looks better

also if you haven't got it all ready get metal gear solid peace walker,its amazing! I think it is also on sale for 16 pounds on the playsation store

I haven't played either.

On the one hand, SNK is on its last legs, so they could use the money.

On the other, when Sony first put it up, Afterburner had some problems. But when people complained, Sega responded and eventually kept bugging Sony to get it fixed. So that was pretty cool. (Okay, it would have been cooler if either company had noticed. But still...)

So basically, I don't know. Wait for Tactics Ogre? (Just to add an unwanted suggestion of my own...)

I'd go for Alpha Mission II, as I prefer that genre over the other.

What I'll never understand is why people respond to a 'should I get game X or game y' with a 'get game z instead.' That's basically avoiding the original question. Sorry if I had an 'attitude' but it's annoying and I can't be the only one who feels this way.

Please note that it doesn't matter if you actually played those games or not. You're supposed to decide based on the pros and cons I mentioned. I wasn't asking for your actual opinions on these games as I'll probably end up getting both eventually.

That said, I still haven't decided yet although Alpha Mission II seems to be winning so far.

@onmode-ky, I agree that these NEO GEO games should be cheaper. They're older than a PSX title so why are they more expensive?

what I don't get is why people ask questions like should I get game X or game Y and then mention to completely different genres ... it's like asking wether you should get a car or a bike

and I don't get people who get annoyed by friendly advice either
I think you should skip both titles and get zombie tycoon

-As you said its a type of psp game you don't have where as you have many SHMUPs.
-Its only 3 more dollars. Is that going break the bank?
I haven't played either game and do realize most of advice i'm giving is just repeating what you already said :p But if I were you (wich i'm not) i'd get Alpha Mission II because I like SHMUPs better than whatever the genre

It's "P.P.S.," standing for "post post scriptum." What in the world would "S.S.P." stand for? SlayStation Portable (a pocket howitzer?)?

I really liked How to Train Your Dragon. The best Dreamworks Animation film, by a long shot. Excellent air combat shots, by the way. The animators are also very proud of their multiple forms of fire animation.

Balrog, I assumed that you wrote two posts, where the second was a continuation of the first post, because you accidentally made a premature post. If that were the case, then you could have simply edited the first post to append your continuing text instead of starting a second one. But, now that you've indicated that wasn't what happened, I take it that you typed those posts on a portable device which has a text entry size limitation?

Freelance, I think that, in the end, you're just going to end up getting both games, just like I did with NEOGEO HEROES ~Ultimate Shooting~ and Irem Arcade Hits. And like what I may do with Amazon Video on Demand's first "seasons" of Galaxy Express 999 and Captain Harlock. So, just toss a coin. :)
