Does anyone think all these new Minis are priced to high? To me, 6 or 7 bucks for a "Mini" is a little to much. I understand they're getting cooler and all, but the prices are getting close to PSN Exclusive prices like Pixel Junk Monsters and No Heroes Allowed. And you've all seen the crap we got for Zenonia's 7 dollar price tag.
Are Minis Priced To High?

Hey Chaos,
I think 7 bucks is way too high for a Mini, irrelevant of content. I think 4.99 should be the maximum price for a Mini.
In saying that it's a tough balancing act cause as a developer we understand Dev's need to be paid and to get the biggest
payoff you have to spend money on localisation, ratings and more...Still though, I personally wouldnt spend more than a fiver for a Mini...

@Paddy Murphy
Firstly, Mad Blocker Alpha looks great.I understand the balancing act and all, but I would almost rather have a full out PSP title with more content. Either way, I love Minis and will continue to buy them I reckon. And just for an example, I paid $2.99 for Aero Racer and its one of my favorite Minis. Another thing is, if the develpers keep making "awesome Minis" I wont be as bummed about the higher prices. After all, you get what you pay for. I almost feel guilty about complaining about 6 bucks for a Mini.......almost.

Shazbots asked a related question a few weeks ago, in his "Serious Question for PSP Mini Developers" topic. It's definitely worth a read, as many developers chimed in with their thoughts on the subject. In fact, if this forum had a "sticky" feature for keeping certain topics always on the front page, I would nominate this one to have that attribute.
Personally, I do think Minis should not go over $5. I also think they shouldn't be $0.99 (not at release, that is; Echoes' price drop to that level after success at $2.99 was fine).

Sorry about last night. I had a few beers and was irritable...lolThanks for the link. I will check that out. I agree, $4.99 tops for a Mini. And a good one at that. Who could we talk to about a "sticky thread" option? I havent seen any moderators around.

Oh also - I think they should do more offers like the App Store - Ie. one week only for a lower price and things like that...
We hope to do that for Mad Blockers first week of release and then put it back up to normal price after Xmas...Also, thanks very much Chaos for the compliments :D

Ok, I just read Shazbots post from a few weeks ago about pricing Minis. My eyes are opened a little more now. I didnt realise the effort these dev. teams are putting in. I also dont know the depth of their pockets. I appreciate the hard work and the great games, but I still dont wanna pay over $4.99 for a Mini. I love the idea of Minis. I love being able to fire up my Big Boss Bundle PSP (had to throw that in) and play for 5 minutes if I want to.

That is the appeal isn't it... But also, putting the pricing high can kill a game as Devs have learned over on the app store. Its all about getting players involved primarily... I understand, money needs to be made, but still... I think most reasonable people would pay five euros for a pretty awesome little game... but 7.... Sticky, if ya ask me...

Thank you guys for mentioning my thread and yes we need a sticky thread feature on this site. Anyways $4.99 should be the default price for minis, but the problem is that these developers have to pay the ESRB to have their game's submitted, and it is very expensive. Where on the app store such fee thats not exist. If Sony could get rid of that process, than maybe minis will be a little cheaper.

But you also have to look at the fact that lower prices mean higher sales. Alot of gamers just don't buy minis, for the fact they cost too much. I say keep at the $4.99 mark, and watch the sales go up.

Well, among PSPMinis.com staff members, I'm the only one that posts in the forum often enough to be considered "often" (I'm the main blog's copy editor, so I'm like a quasi staff member), but I'm neither a moderator nor an administrator in the forum portion of the site.
Ie. one week only for a lower price and things like that...

As I recall, Coconut Dodge had a reduced price for a few weeks when it debuted in Europe. You might want to contact the FuturLab boys if you want to ask if they had to do anything special to arrange that. Also, the PS Store does have sales on its "inventory," including Minis. I don't know if that's a lot of red tape to do, but it's also something you could ask the PS Store managers about.

Well, when I said five, I meant US dollars, so five Euros would be beyond my desired price point. :)

Oops, forgot to respond to this:
Sorry about last night. I had a few beers and was irritable...lol
It's okay; I have a thick skin. :) For the record, I was, as Carson noted, not trying to be rude. I was, however, trying to sound stern enough so that I would be taken seriously, so that I would not be mistaken for just joking around. I have nothing against Hellboy and am glad that he's so infectiously enthusiastic about this forum.
To Hellboy, on that: I apologize for making you feel bad. I'll try to word things more carefully. As a peace offering, please enjoy the following ridiculous play on words: if you read the spring water brand name "Deer Park" backwards, you get the answer to the question, "Why does my oboe sound so bad?"
Okay, back to Minis pricing discussion!

Yo onmode,
Its all scaleable to currency. If we released it at five euros, then we would release it at 5 dollas in the states and 500 yen in japan etc.
I mean that 5 euro, (Here in Ireland anyhow) is totally reasonable, Im assuming five bucks int the states is too and from chatting to work colleagues in Japan 500 yen is totally reasonable too...
7 euros, dollars or hundred yen, is just far far too expensive for a Mini...

In compare with Android games are games on PSP expensive.
Average game should be for 0.99 USD, good game for 1.99 USD.

Android is awesome. I mean the free versions of apps are acctually big. My phone has great wifi and smooth internet.

The maximum prices are 4.99€ in EU. Since they do the €/$ conversion, you're getting those minis for 6.99$.

$5 is the most i'd pay for a mini. with all the ps1 classics and older or used games out there i can't justify dropping more money for a short diversion.
i have trouble convincing friends that the minis are worthwhile mainly because of the price point.
that being said i am very impressed by some of the minis for the graphical values they've included in such small filesizes. i keep coming back to some since they take such little memory that i never bother deleting them

I think some are a little to much if its a cool game like hero of sparta i can see paying 4.99 for that but some are kinda high price
