Anyone else win on the Laughing Jackal Ltd competition on Twitter?

Hi guys.

So I won, went to enter my code and low and behold.....PSP says,

"The code you have entered may not be correct or may not no longer be valid. Please check your entries"

Nooooo!

Now, either they have issued the same code to another winner, or I have a code that never worked.

Majorly gutted as they put it here in Rainy Wales.

I have emailed the Laughing Jackal Ltd guys, so I'm hoping they can sort this. So, anyone else had a duff code?

Must . . . fight urge . . . to correct spelling . . . AGGHH!

But no, I haven't had a screwed up code before. Good luck sorting it all out. I wonder if they just gave you an old code by accident . . . or if someone out there somehow stole it earlier. Hmm.

Well, I didn't mean like someone hacked into the developer's e-mail account or something. Rather, I've always been a bit paranoid about PSN codes; they're presumably cryptographically generated, so if someone were to figure out how Sony comes up with the codes, they could just make their own codes. Thus the possibility would arise that someone could use a code before Sony even gave it to any developer to give out. Then again, I'm probably being too paranoid; after all, if someone had the ability to crack that sort of encryption, they'd probably be spending their time faking credit card numbers or something instead of PSN codes. . . .

Let us know what happens with your situation.

Hey ianmt,

Not sure how this has happened but we'll try and sort you out with a new code ASAP. They were supposed to expire on 11th Sept (as mentioned in the T's & C's) but maybe they were nullified earlier than that?

We'll get a new code out to you ASAP - you seem to be the only person affected unusually. :S Hmm... curiouser and curiouser.

Sorry about the trouble you’ve had. We’ve validated the code and it should have worked but there you go! J

I’ve not got any extant European codes left but you can certainly have this SCEA one:

****-****-****

To download it you’ll need to create a new user account on your PS3, set the region to the US and then create an account (with a dummy US address). Once you’ve redeemed the code and downloaded Vibes you’ll be able to play with your regular account again.

Nope. Unfortunately, I can create a new US PSP account (although I live in the UK), but as I do not own a PS3 I cannot log out of my account on my PSP and log in at the American one. I'm GUTTED :-(

Is there anyone out there that would be willing to swop a US code for a UK code?

you can log out of the eu one and on to the us one on psp, its a little more inconvenient than on ps3 as you have to re type everything everytime you want to switch and play a game on a different account (you have to be registered to the account that a game was downloaded on to play), but it is possible: I believe at account manager you should be able to push triangle, then click delete account (dont worry the account is still on the psn, and still exists, it just deletes it from your psp so you can log in on a new one), then register with your other account. once you download a game from the new account, it will inform you that you will be logged out of the old one and onto the new. when you get used to it, switching should only take about a minute, but you will need to be connected to the internet to switch, and I think that's all you need to know.

If you have Media Go installed on a PC, you should be able to switch between accounts in it much more easily than on a PSP. Still, I'm not sure if content downloaded by one account on a PSP can be played by another account. I know I've never been able to access the Asia-region downloaded content on my Memory Sticks via the US-region account (they were PSP themes).

I used to switch the PSP's region through the PS3 USB connection back when my PS3 was on PSN. Didn't realize the PSP itself could do it.

Thanks, but alas, I use a mac so currently there is no pc manager available. What a nightmare!

@ ianmt If you do what Carson wrote you'll be fine. I've done it on my own PSPs lots of times and all my other games are still there and working when I return back to my 'normal' account again. :)

Actually I think Sony's DRM is better than MS's. Being able to download to various accounts on the same machine and all play the same game is pretty awesome.

I can't even play my XBLA games when I'm offline! :(

I think you mean XBLIG. as far as I'm aware, XBLA games are playable offline (unless they changed it), I dont own an Xbox 360 myself (being a sony fanboy, such a thing would be treason!) but my friend does (actually, he owns 3! 2 died for various reasons! (one to rrd, and one to a power surge... now that I think about it, he lost his original xbox to the same thing too! I now realize how scared I would be if I was his current xbox!)), and he's brought his over to my place in the past, and the arcade games worked fine (that's mostly what we played actually), despite me not having highspeed.

its not QUITE that simple, you do need to input a specific (fake) address, and you need a way to get the EU psn cards (or add th), too, but yes, you can buy EU psn stuff even if you dont live in Europe. You can also get JP stuff buy saying your from Japan, if you dont feel like waiting for a game (or demo's) American release (assuming there even is one), of course you wouldnt quite be able to read it, but still, its one of the really cool advantages of digital distribution, something that I hope sony doesnt go through great lengths to stop, as I cant imagine it hurts anyone.

Regarding the address thing for the PSN account, I wonder whether Sony would in fact check whether you're actually living at their Japanese headquarters. . . .

Ok I finally did this and it is pretty cool getting a couple themes and wallpapers that arnt in my store. Couldnt you just use a credit card to buy stuff?

If you are refaring to the EU store, then they are mixed in with all the rest of the games... welcome to OUR WORLD... it sooo sucks. ;)
