I used to play this classic animated game back in the good ol days. I see its been released for other stuff already. Data East games have recently been put up on the PSN. Maybe this too?
Any chance Cobra Command will be released as a mini?

Hey, be nice, we aren't a dead community,
some people just don't respond to things they know nothing about (ie this), doing so would be spamming.its been released for other stuff already. Data East games have recently been put up on the PSN.
Evidently, you know about as much about this as possible.
since the game hasn't been announced for minis, thats all there is to know.
The only response toMaybe this too?
anyone could give you is "Maybe this too."Posted 1 year ago # -
I enjoyed Cobra Command in the arcade, as well as on the Sega CD. Digital Leisure ported the game to the iPhone, and they are planning on releasing stuff on PSN. So it's possible...
Digital Leisure is also responsible for the various ports of other classic laserdisc games, such as Dragon's Lair and Mad Dog McCree. It would be cool to play some of those on the PSP/PS3, too. I'm not sure they'd be able to meet the size restriction of Minis, though.

Thank you PSPeeper, that was the type of information and discussion I was hoping for. So there is hope. hmm but yes the 100mb thing. That is something I didn't think of. I wonder how much space it takes. Couldn't be too much could it? hopeful....
I heard Gravity Crash might be coming out for PSP next week on the US PSN. I'll be buying that one as soon as I can. An exclusive release I guess it'll be. 9.99 type thing.
I'm not depressed..just crazy from the heat..

The size restriction is actually a big issue. Cobra Command on my iPhone is around 200 Mbs and Dragon's Lair is over 100 Mbs as well. All that animated video plus music and sounds really takes up a lot of space. They would need to do some crazy compression to make it under the minis limit.

Maybe they could release those games as regular titles, maybe 9.99 type stuff pushing beyond the 100MB limit.
As far as minis go...maybe they should open it up a bit more..I'd be willing to play a little more..say 8.99 instead of 4.99 for a 200MB mini. The quality and fun of so many of the minis really makes me wish they'd open the flood gates just a tad more. : )

While I can't help you with Cobra Command, I can say that if you're looking for Cobra Commander, the PSP GI Joe game might be the place to look :P
Pester one of the smaller publishers on PSN who've ported games over. There's one called Monkey somethingsomething that's bringing over a bunch of Japanese PS1 games, as well as that publisher who brought that Pac-Man clone and racing game.

I did not respond to the initial post because I am not familiar with this game. Also, I thought it a bit strange to speculate about the release of a random game as a Mini when it would be much more productive for you to ask the IP owner, G1M2, directly; they're the ones releasing Data East games as Minis already, after all. What's the point in asking us? Nothing we say here matters since they don't participate in this forum.

I don't think this makes any sense. The secondary storage footprint of a game should not directly correlate to its price. If it's a game made up of 2 hours of video footage of someone eating sandwiches while silently staring out the window, with face button prompts on screen every 5 minutes for gameplay, it'll be a big file; BUT, it will also be 1) very cheaply made and 2) not fun for most people. Thus, it would hardly justify a high price. Minis are priced the way they are because of gameplay/development expectations; namely, the games are fairly short and/or can be played in short bursts, and they're built on small budgets. If a game is 1 GB large and yet still has those characteristics, it should not cost any more than any other Mini. The only caveat would be if the game is some hotly anticipated IP, which would carry an "elite tax."
In the case of Cobra Command, it should definitely not cost more than normal simply because the assets already exist. Porting it would cost less than making a new Mini from the ground up.

"I don't think this makes any sense. The secondary storage footprint of a game should not directly correlate to its price."
I'm simply saying that I'd be willing to pay a little more for a game with more content..its not really that hard to follow is it? Instead of a game having 4 levels, have 8, pay twice as much, still very cheap for a good game. I think it makes perfect sense. Sorry you don't agree.
And well you know what they say about opinions don't you? Enjoy...

I have no intelligent thoughts or comments on this discussion. Just thought I'd mention my lack of useful input, since the topic seemed lonely. Oh, and welcome to the community - it's not too bad, it's just common for forum posts on any forum that are fairly specific in scope to generate very little traffic. Speculative topics in particular.
However, I would like to note that the 100mb restriction seems to be more to limit server upkeep and bandwidth costs for PSN. Or Sony. Or whoever is running it.
