I'm pretty disgusted with the behavior of Sony, in this year there are not many new and good PSP games :-(. Sony should open development of games (minis) for wider amount of developers. Lets compare PSN shop and iPhone / Android market.... PSN has new games only once a week, games are too expensive, and not much new games come...

I am VERY satisfied with Android phone as gaming device - I love touch display, I LOVE accelerometer, i Android market are thousands very good games, free or paid, I love low price of paid games - lets compare - 30 USD for one PSP game vs. 30 games for Android? Or 5 USD for one minis vs. 5 games for Android with the same quality...

BTW: I have cheap Android phone Gigabyte GSmart G1305 (also known as Orange Boston, Motorola XT502, Apanda A60, Vibo A688, Chinavision Excalibur, Muchtel A1, Wellcom A88, Commtiva Z71, Cincinnati Bell Blaze...)

From time of having Android phone, I play on PSP not often, maybe hour a week... On Android phone I play about 2 hours / day.

Are you spend more time with playing games on PSP or Android (or iPhone)?

Imagine, if you do not have PSP or Android, and If you can now buy Android vs PSP (in the similar price), what will you buy?

how much did you pay for your motorola. That phone doesn't seem to be available in my country yet. I got the samsung i5800 galaxy apollo. Is that phone better or just as good as mine?

I do not know if its better, here are main parameters:

600 MHz CPU
3.2 inch capacitive display with 320 x 480 resolution
256 MB RAM, 171 MB avaliable ROM

OT: you do realise that this is the best year for psp right? But I am currently new in android but I am sure that the android market is better than the playstation store (in terms of releases and prices for sure).

This is the worst year for PSP, this year there was not much good games for buying...

Android Market is very good.

My best games for Android, try them:
Blockerix (best puzzle game, try to beat my highscore (via OpenFeint))

So djax, you list all of those "android" games. Very intresting collection, they are all small little time waster style games.

The PSP this year has had some amazing games such as Peacewalker, God Of War, Valkyire Chronicles 2, Persona, Phantasy Star and a load of other games, which could easily over 30 to 40 hours of gameplay each. I know this is a site aimed at the smaller type of games, but they are an added bonus on the PSP, not its only use.

I think you can only compare android games to psn exclusives and minis. But if it's for iphone than you can compare to very few real psp games. The psp has much better games than iphone or android though.

But shouldn't I wait for angry birds to be released on psp? because that version will have new content.

There has been some pretty good PSP games this year.

You can't compare a game like Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep to the crap you get on I-phones/android phones...

I own a PSP-GO as well as an Android device (Archos 5) and an ipod Touch and I commute about 3 hours a day from home to work and back, so a lot of playing gets done. For me the PSP is the absolute Game King. Like the above members said if you compare minis to android/apple games the PSP loses out. But the there are all the other PSP games. I myself am a (J)RPG enthusiast so both Android and Apple don't offer much for me. I really don’t mind paying 30 euro for a game I can spend 30+ hours with. I haven’t yet spend 30+ hours with any Android or Apple game (has anyone?). And then there is the issue of control. I really don't like touch and tilt control, for me it is to imprecise and slow. I prefer the old tried and tested real button control. What I do wish is that the PSP would get more Android/Apple style non game apps and that Sony would make Minis development cheaper.

I'm not voting since I don't have either phone product, but I thought I'd chime in and agree that this year has had a plethora of really good PSP games, seemingly more than any prior year. I think you'd be hard-pressed to successfully argue that this has been the system's worst year. Off the top of my head:

Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker
echoshift
Ys Seven
Valkyria Chronicles II
Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep
Phantasy Star Portable 2
Invizimals
Ys: The Oath in Felghana
God of War: Ghost of Sparta

What I've written above is admittedly RPG-heavy, but that's just because that's what normally catches my eye. I think the system has had many noteworthy games this year, for lots of kinds of gamers. At any rate, I think it's a pretty good time to be a PSP owner (without custom firmware, I mean).

Touchscreen gaming, to me, is only well suited for certain kinds of games. For example, it works well for point-and-click adventures and menu-centric games. I need better tactile feedback for other types of games, though. The day when touchscreens have the ability to dynamically remold to form assorted varieties of buttons (preferably with customizable feel!) for different games, that will be the day I completely approve of touchscreen gaming.

Oh, and yes, I do realize I didn't include any Minis in that list. While I think there are lots of good Minis, I was more aiming for "system seller" types of games. Okay, so maybe no one bought a PSP for echoshift. :P

It usually depends on what gaming I want to do as to which platform I prefer at the moment. If I want some quick, fun, "casual" time waster I usually go for my iPod Touch.

If I'm looking for a deeper experience I'll stick to my PSP or DS(when I had one). Nothing on Android or the iPhone compares to the library the PSP has in terms of AAA titles.

By the way djax, if you love the android store so much you'd be blown away by Apples App Store. The Android store is really inferior when compared to the App Store.

I strongly favor the PSP for gaming. I work for a large cell phone provider in the US and own an Android phone. There are perks with each device. For example, the Android market place uses open development and its cheap to publish for the market place. Indie developers also avoid the fees for rating the game because it can be considered an app. The psp however has more quality games because experienced developers with more funds can back the production of richer games. This in turn means fewer games. I, or anyone, could write a book about the differences and compare the three devices so I'll cut my comments with one final call out. The psp is designed primarily for gaming and entertainment. Android is more for a phone and convenience.

Why do people still compare a handheld gaming device with cellphones? Cellphones are for calling, texting, surfing the web all half ass, playing 5 minute video games and playing music. The PSP and the DS are mainly for gaming, and some fun extras. STOP COMPARING CELLPHONES AND HANDHELDS. Is already fucking annoying that the media has been doing this comparision of cellphones and handhelds for the past few years. This devices target different markets, duh.

MAN, I have been waiting for The 3rd Birthday for so freaking long! From what I've seen, it's going to be an AMAZING game. I have never played Parasite Eve 1 or 2, but the second I saw The 3rd Birthday, I was blown away with what they were doing with it.

You just don't get that kind of anticipation from cell phone games.

I am casual gamer, I like platform games and racing games, but this games are on PSP not much, especially this year. I bought about 20 UMDs and 60 games from PSN store (in the past years), but this year no UMD and very few games from PSN store, because there are nothing new...
