My top score in survival mode is 175,894 (thus far).
No proof though... tbh if I had a photo of it I'd end up beating it seconds later anyway. ;)Posted 1 year ago # -
yeah you can get a lot if you have all the upgrades.... I will post mine if I've bought the most important ones.

Update... New Score in Survival 1,434,250 on Competent difficulty level. ;)

thumb do you have all the upgrades?

Congrats on the 1,000,000 run ;) You also got the Survive 60 minutes achievement I suppose?

And one more thing, there is a multiplier in Survival mode. Each 20 kills without being hit grants you with a +1 Multiplier (up to X10 if I remember well).
So if you really want to increase your survival Highscore, you have to build your multiplier and keep it!
Good luck!

@pspgamer01
I do now!!!... every last one!!! :D@MickD
Funny enough that one still eludes me... I only had to go as far as the second named boss to get that score.TOP TIP use the empress' weapon upgrade (the pink one that gives you five orbiting ships) as much as possible.
If you have a X10 score multiplier, and you get hit (even if you have a shield) you lose it all... but with those ships absorbing the flak, you don't, plus you get extra firepower. ;)Posted 1 year ago # -

It's normal. When you are on Competent you get more points out of Survival mode then you would if you played the game on Wussy. So to get 1,000,000 pts on Wussy difficulty would require more time.
Also, if you do Survival on Die Trying your score will increase faster but of course its harder ;)
Other topic: how do you like that last upgrade? (Overdrive #2) ?

@MickD
tbh, I don't think it was worth all the efort I put in to get it... it just seems to put the big red lazer ontop of it... is THAT it! or am I missing something? ;)P.S. I wasn't sure if the difficulty level made a difference in survival mode... as it always starts out easy. ;)

I get the 60 min achievement and i did 140995 ¬¬
Posted 1 year ago # -
So you probably did it at wussy....right??? In fact I would say this is a bit strange but maybe it's possible.
Doing the game at wussy, I believe you dont have much fun out of it. You need to be at least at competent to enjoy the game. If the boss are too easy, it drives the fun out of the game...I'm afraid this does not appeal to younger audience but it's the way it is.
I saw some review saying the boss are the weak point of the game...while I believe they are the strong part. You are the judge after all, but saying the game is too hard is just telling me you are maybe not prepared to enjoy it.
Anyway, I hope you have fun with it. Happy holidays!

the game is not too hard. It's almost too easy on competent as long as you bought a lot of upgrades.
I am too lazy to put on my psp and read the scores but it was something around 700 000. It's not my final score cuz I haven't bought all the upgrades. If I have all the upgrades, a million can be easy done.
BTW How to unlock the insane achievement on competent if you can't change the difficulty? Or can you when you beat the game?
Posted 1 year ago # -
@pspgamer01
Once you beat the game, at the file select screen, you are given a choice to ether play on to buy all the upgrades, or to start a new game on any difficulty level, keeping all your upgrades (except hull upgrades and special weapons).
I recomend the first option, you can go back to the file select screen at any time and pick the second option.
Once you pick the second option, be aware... there is no going back. ;)Posted 1 year ago # -
I'm stuggling to beat The Chill boss on 'competent' skill level :-( He seems to wipe me out no matter what special weapons I use.
Can anyone suggest any good tactics to use against him?
Thanks in advance! :-)
Posted 1 year ago # -
He's a tough one... ok, here's what to do, as soon as he appears blast him as much as possible, when he starts to go left and right always stay just ahead of him, it's the best safe spot because you can pummel him and, with practice, not get hit. Then he comes to rest in the centre of the screen, pummel him as much as you can as well as taking out all the little ships with your side guns to avoid being frozen, then watch the sides for the lazers, after that repeat the process. ;)

Also, rember the pink special weapon gives you five shot absorbing ships, extra firepower as well as a health boost and the red special weapon (once upgraded) destroys enemy bullets, on its own it's not that powerful... but add the extra firepower of the pink one plus your ships own weapon (yes, you can indeed fire with this weapon active... in fact it's a must) and it's devistatingly powerful.

@thumbbandit
Thanks for the tips mate!
Would you believe that I just managed to beat him but when saving after the red cross animation, the 'Wipeout Bug' struck again and wiped out the fact that I'd successfully completed the level!! :-(
I've been playing for quite a while today and I've encountered the Wipeout Bug about four times so far.
Maybe this is a secret Frima strategy to up the replay statistics for the game! ;-)

@thumbbandit
I've killed the chill before he does his blue beam attack. Have you done that too? Once stops shooting blue ice orbs his going in the top middle standing still. THen you need to to shoot him as hard as you can. Put up your pink weapon and eventually your orange beam weapon.
BTW how many achievement do you still need to get?
Posted 1 year ago # -
I can't remember... probably not though, so good going for you. :D
Only the last two. :D
The pink weapon is the best one in whole game imo. ;)Posted 1 year ago # -
and for how long are you playing btw?
Posted 1 year ago # -
Total 11hrs 39mins, the file says.
3 play throughs, 2 on wussy, 1 on competent.Posted 1 year ago # -
@MickD
I was wrong about the "Overdrive #2", it is totaly worth the efort.
I did encounter another two minor bugs relating to the "Overdrive #2"
1 if you have the five ships (pink special weapon) orbiting you when you use it they dissapear.
2 if the above doesn't happen, then all (or one of) five orbiting ships turn transparent.Posted 1 year ago # -
Total 11hrs 39mins, the file says.
We record only actual gameplay time. So for example this does not count time spent in the map select screen and the shop. So you actually PLAYED 11hrs and 39 mins.
Just saying ;)
Also for your 2 minor bugs, point #1 is by design even if I understand this can be a tad bad. #2 however... its strange.
Posted 1 year ago # -
well I haven't completed the game yet. I've been playing for like 6 hours. I play on competent.

@thumbbandit
So you actually PLAYED 11hrs and 39 mins
Wow - much respect to you dude! :-)
I'm on about 5hrs or so I think so far...
Posted 1 year ago # -
@MickD
So, you should say that "A Space Shooter For 2 Bucks has about 10 hours+ gameplay" and "20 hours+ for 100% completion"... that would be a great selling point for the game.
Mini doesn't have to mean MINI! ;)Posted 1 year ago # -
@volcane
getting ALL the upgrades is a must.Posted 1 year ago # -
For the regular gamers who don't care about achievements or scores, just cica 8 hours if all upgrades.

Did you complete the game pspgamer01?
