Hey,

A bit of self-promotion here. Here are links to some e-mail interviews I did with Grip Games, Open Emotion Studios and Futurlab.

http://games-shrine.blogspot.com/2012/01/indie-developer-interview-number-1-grip.html

This series is ongoing, so keep an eye out for more minis developer interviews.

Hi folks,

We ran a focus test recently, for people to come and play our upcoming (March 6th US/7th EU) minis game.

The results of our test were quite surprising!

I thought I would start up a go to thread for people to ask about games they are thinking about buying. That way it'll save us the time of having to start a new topic every time we want the communities opinion on a game.

Has anyone here played Magna Carta 2? I keep passing by a new copy at Walmart for $15 and I'm always tempted to buy it, but I've read a lot of reviews pretty much calling it lackluster at best.

I've looked up videos on YouTube and I like the visual style of the game, and the gameplay looks a lot better than what I've heard. But even at just $15, I don't need another game I'll never beat.

So guys -

I know Revoltin'Youth hasn't even dropped out the door yet, but we are here to tell you about our next Mini which is a fun melee combat based game called I Kill Zombies. The game is the brainchild of one of our new artists, a captain James Sharkey. I am working closely with Sharkey to give the game really fun game design mechanics and tons of content to boot...

Sharkey has some concepts done and we have settled on a similar visual style to The Binding of Isaac by the awesome Ed McMillen. The game should be released around October/November and will feature a whole lot of Characters, Blood, Gore, Inappropriate behaviour and fun... Also Zombies... it will most definitely contain Zombies.

Stay tuned anyhow as I will try to drop the first preliminary screens to you guys early next week :)

We are also working on something much much bigger which we will announce over on our official website during this years GDC/Gamescom event :D

And as if that wasn't enough, if there is a positive reception to Revoltin' Youth we might port our upcoming spin-off, Youths of Rage over to the Minis platform as well...

Its all coming up roses guys :)

Rock N' Roll,

The most recent PS+ post on the PS Blog reveals several SNK arcade games will be releasing as Minis soon. Here's what's coming, July 19th:

Guerilla War*
Athena*
HAL 21*
Ikari Warriors*
Marvin's Maze*
Sasuke vs. Commander*
Ozma Wars
Vanguard

The 6 titles with asterisks are games that were part of the recent, Japan/Asia-only SNK Arcade Classics Vol. 0. With 6 of the collection's 20 games being released as standalone Minis, I guess we aren't likely going to see Vol. 0 itself getting a release in the West. Of the 2 no-asterisk games, Ozma Wars is SNK's first game (and its Wikipedia entry also notes it's the first video game with disparate levels, as well as the first to use a life bar mechanic), and Vanguard is one of the first scrolling shooters (it scrolled both vertically and horizontally).

The same Store update will add 2 SNK NeoGeo titles, Baseball Stars 2 and KoF '95, presumably to the NeoGeo sections of the Store--however, the blog post only notes what looks like a PS3 price, so I can't tell if the titles are coming to the NeoGeo section for the PSP.

The SNK Minis will normally be priced at $3 each, but PS+ subscribers (such as those of us who activated our free 30 days late in the availability period!) will get Guerilla Wars as a subscription-time freebie and all the other titles at 20% off, a savings of 60 cents each.

I'm already backlogged even just on Minis, but thanks to the PS+ discount bit, I think I'll be jumping on the shoot'em-ups in the set: Ozma Wars, HAL 21, Sasuke vs. Commander, and Vanguard. Maybe I'll get Athena, too.

sniper712 will like this news--sort of. I say \"sort of\" because the details about this product are not entirely clear:

- The images look suspiciously like Photoshop work on an iPhone.
- No manufacturer or information source is listed (note that the articles are all news sites; no press release going on here). I\'d be surprised if the current SNK Playmore were manufacturing this themselves.
- The pictured unit has asymmetrical button labeling on the L1/L2/R1/R2.
- It\'s supposedly going to be preloaded with NeoGeo games (sorry, sniper712, not NGP/NGPC games), yet it has more buttons than that would require. What would it play aside from NeoGeo, then?

Anyway, we\'ll probably find out shortly how real this thing is.

Hi all. I\'m sure I\'m not the only person here that is looking for 3D content right now. Thought I\'s start a thread so we can gather some of the off topic posts.

I\'m playing the new Assassin\'s Creed, and am gonna get Motorstorm Apocalypse (was already looking at it).
The only good 3D movie I\'ve seen (as in the 3D was good, not the movie) is the last Final Destination. Everything else has been a let down.

So suggestions anyone?

The Catherine demo is live today on both the PlayStation Store and Live. I'm playing it now and I'm blown away by it.

The puzzles have the potential to be insanely difficult, the game had to be patched in Japan because of that, but there's an easy mode to select in the demo and full game, which I have no shame in admitting is what I'm playing it on!

I can't wait for the 26th to play the full game.

Any fans of survivor horror games may want to keep their eyes open for Corpse Bride. I myself have been in a horror mood, always happen during Halloween, so I'll likely pick it it. Given it has a nice price.

As far as what the game is about, hell if I know. I got tired of reading the blog post and said, "Whatever, as long as it's no higher than $19.99, I'm getting it.".

This had better work, Ofaliss/sniper712.

Freelance, when you play Prehistoric Isle in 1930, is it much slower on your PSP than on your PS3? Or if you\'ve only played it on your PSP, does the game just seem oddly slow? Not in fits and spurts, just kind of consistently glacial all the time.

...I have cweated over a tousand bwades. UNRIMITED BWADE WARKS!

No guys, it's not spam! ;P I'm just informing anyone here who's a fan of the Fate/stay night visual novel/anime, that Fate/Extra will be released in the US. It's a dungeon crawler that was developed by Type-Moon, the same folks that developed Fate/unlimited codes, a pretty solid fighting game that I play on a regular basis.

In all honesty, I didn't know enough people in the states cared enough about Fate for anyone to want to release Extra outside of Japan, I've never seen the anime or watched/read the visual novel myself. I guess Aksys Games knows otherwise.

I just wish somebody would bring Evangelion Jo over here. Imports are too expensive for my cheap tastes.

I feel that I owe it to all my friends here to make this thread. It was partly my fault for the decrease in fun. Remember, I do have the record for creating the thread with the most posts in history. So this thread is for anyone who thinks the fun level is slippin a bit. Post fun stuff here like pictures of your best friends mom in the shower.

For example, Jake pissed on me while I was changing him the other night. That was fun.
