@JeremyR

I wouldn't really say the PS Store is awful. There are plenty of games on there, minis and otherwise. Plus there are quite a few demos on there, PS1 classics, smaller games like flOw, Super Stardust Portable, PixelJunk Monsters...

To answer the title, I agree with princecaro, but also minis really aren't that deep or substantial. Most are quite small, expecially compared with full games on the Store, so you could pretty much experience most of what the mini has to offer just from replaying the demo, there would be no incentive to buy it afterward.

Only updating once a week, whenever they get around to doing it, rather than on a set schedule - JeremyR

They do it every Thursday, at least for United States.

yeah, youre very right,
the playstation store has many problems,
untill recently there wasnt even 2 pages of demo's.

they really should have added a umd drive to the pspgo, now they dont have an excuse for terrible service...... nothing's even done the same time for each region...... im still waiting for those comics, ive got the icon, but the ps store has yet to release them in canada :(, it's disappointing.

Sony is a huge, billion dollar company. There is no reason they can't afford to pay for the bandwidth, when much smaller companies like Big Fish Games can allow demos of just about every program they sell (like I said, they let you try anything for 60 minutes).

Indeed, BFG offers trials of some of the minis (since they are just ported from PC to PSP).

It's just baffling that Sony, which launched a digital download only console, is so awful when it comes to providing digital content. Like taking off the holidays (their competitors didn't). Only updating once a week, whenever they get around to doing it, rather than on a set schedule (like their competitors) or daily (like PC game portals like BFG).

Sony would never make them mandatory (plus they don't host the content for free). I think if we ever see demos they will be by companies like Halfbrick whose games has gotten positive reviews and word of mouth. A small company wouldn't make a demo for a bad game, that'd be like shooting themselves in the foot.

i think from sony's point of view, trials could actually reduce purchases, there are some games that if i try'd before i bought, i wouldent have bought them, and i think everyones made the same mistake, or else there wouldent be so many second hand games.
so (although its also possible that trials would increase sales) its possible that trials could reduce sales. and i dont think sony wants to spend a ton of money on bandwidth and designing a trial system that might actually decrease the money they make. thats my opinion.

They can put out demos on PSN if they wanted to but demos are just another cost. At least sites like pspminis.com lets consumers know about the minis before we purchase.

They could do this, like XBLA indie games or BFG does. Basically just giving people 20-60 minutes of gameplay.

It seems to be built into the firmware (if you hit info, it has entries for time remaining and expiration date).

But Sony just seems completely apathetic towards the PSP as a software platform. They could up with great ideas, but never really bother following it through.

For a company in 3rd place, they really don't try very hard.
