Metacritic is going to be the standard for quite some time. They made a mistake with their site, but they're working to update all the content.

...If PSPminis.com is going to be taken more seriously by Metacritic...

I take it you haven't visited Metacritic the last month. After their "update" and redesign where they killed usability and simply removed pages of game reviews without a trace, I don't think anyone is taking Metacritic seriously anymore. The site is pretty much ruined. A website like gamestats.com looks more clean in its design and is also much easier to navigate, imo. That's a site you should pay more attention to.

About reviews and consistency. Preferably it would be best if all games were reviewed by at least two reviewers where the average score would count?

Sorry for being off topic.

That's a great idea. Many review sites provide a breakdown of their scoring using roughly standardised metrics for areas such as sound & graphics. Perhaps something similar could be done here, but also including areas that are particularly important to the Minis platform, such as replayability & cost/value-for-money.

I thought James meant more that the meaning of the existing scoring system needs to be explicitly stated, not that sub-scores should be added (though that's fine, too). As is, different reviewers on the site don't seem to assign scores the same way, even though they're all on a 10-point scale.

Strongly agree with this. If PSPminis.com is going to be taken more seriously by Metacritic and the wider gaming community, it needs an editor who can spot the smallest of typos and grammatical errors. I love the community here at PSPminis.com, but the copywriting is currently way under par.

You should also consider a structured review system with a breakdown of what your scores mean. Being the only site dedicated to minis, you have quite a big responsibility to provide consistent reviews for all the indys coming through.

I would happily offer my services as a proofreader, but not a writer. Forum posts are one thing, but posts in the main blog having lots of grammatical errors feels too unprofessional.

True, but the reviews might not be as good. If they get something (like the PSN account with the Minis), they might be more devoted. Also, reading the reviews and deciding which will make it on the home page would take more time then simply having another person write reviews. But yes, I believe what you said would work too. It's really up to Chris, though.

I'll help if you want me to. Although I don't really have a history of reviewing games, it's something I think I would like. However, could I do it from home? And if so, assuming I join your team, would I be able to re-activate my PSP to play games I downloaded? I'll help if you want me to, although like I said, I don't really have a history of reviewing. And I do have high-speed internet, so I could do reviews pretty much instantly. Thanks, Zach

hi Chris,

if its absolutely essential that another person come on board, id be willing,
ive written a couple reviews in the past (though i dont know if i still have them),
however, Ive mentioned countless times before, that i currently do not have high speed internet access at home, so i wouldn't be able to write reviews on the latest games immediately after their release, but i think i might be able to do comparisons of existing minis with each other or other games,
if you would like me to send a past review to the contact link, (although the reviews i did write were written about a year ago, so it wouldn't be recent) i can.
