I spoke to Halfbrick on twitter and they said that more information for the port of the excellent Rocket Racing is coming early next year. I bought all of their titles when they first came out on Xbox Indie Games and i've been loving the ports (especially the three dollar price point).

I am sorry to hear Australian gamers are not able to play Xbox live indie games. I really like Halfbricks games. I have all three and i am looking forward to their new games.

Don't fret about not getting those Xbox indie games. I downloaded about 8 demos a couple weeks ago to try some.... I literally spent more time trying to figure out if they were worth the $1.20 to buy (I didn't buy any btw)

And thats coming from a guy whose spent over $700 on my PSN account so far, spent about $300 in my Wii account too. There may be a few gems somewhere in those indie games, but I didn't see any.

hmm thats very interesting,
untill you mentioned it, i had no idea that you couldn't buy them either.
would it be possible to make something like a fake u.s. xbox live account and still be able to download them?
i guess the iphone found a loophole of somesort by marketing their games as "apps",
maybe all microsoft has to do is call them "xbox live indie apps" lol.

Actually the reason they arn't availbale here is because they arn't rated by our classifiication board. Some legal matters prevent unrated games being sold here. So untill they are rated there is no fix in sight.

What I don't understand is why we can buy iPhone games as they arn't rated either. Maybe they fall into some different category and can dodge the law.

Haha, yes, course I can waltz on over there. Would only take a couple of months if I took a direct line. Might be better if I email :)

I didn't realize that the Xbox Indie Games aren't available in Australia. It doesn't surprise me though, as I have been noticing more and more how overseas gamers (excluding Japan) have really been getting the shaft this console generation. You would think it would be getting better with digital distribution but there are all these artificial silos out there that the platform holders have created.

Any chance of you being able to do an interview with PR from Halfbrick? C'mon you guys all live on the same island...can't you just walk over to their studios? ; )

Well as a fellow Australian I'm looking forward to seeing a local developer be successful in the minis program.

I'm actually really looking forward to playing there games finally after not having access to xbox indie games. They must really hate that all their friends and family here can't buy and play their games on the xbox here.

Just wanted to give a "shout out" to Halbrick Studios. This Australian developer has at least four minis in the pipeline. Their games seem perfect for the minis program and based on the fact that their 1st mini, Echoes, will be releasing next week for $2.99, I'd say that they definitely have the pricing down to the impulse buy level.

Here's a news piece where they discuss the minis program in general, and Halfbrick in particular:
