alien-havoc3

Another launch title has been announced, Alien Havoc.

We were aware that Creat Studio were working on this title and are very pleased to see it land on launch day. Here’s what to expect, straight from the developers mouth.

Alien Havoc throws back to the classic games era, putting gamers in command of an alien who must pluck cows from farms, load them onto his spaceship, and bring them back to his planet.  The farmers, however, won’t let their cows go easily.  Players must tackle wrapping level layouts, hide and sneak in the cover of tall grass, and throw veggies, rocks or anything else they can at farmers so they can bring the livestock back to their space ship.

Key Game Features

  • Personalize. Customize your alien’s head and body.
  • Explore. Adventure through 20 challenging farms that wrap vertically and horizontally.
  • Strategize. Success by using the terrain and objects to aid you when dealing with farmers.
  • Go for high score! Get the highest score you can by being quick and keeping your cows happy.

Sounds like a pretty nifty title. Looking forward to giving this one a whirl.

fortix 1Well this one came out of the blue. Not only wasn’t it on our Launch Title list, in wasn’t even on our upcoming games list.

Here’s the word straight from the developer.

Fortix is the he fantasy remake of the 80’s popular arcade game Qix. The aim in the game is to conquer the fortresses located in the center of each level. The player moves a knight around the edges of the playfield and draws closed shapes to claim pieces of land. A territory is claimed once its borders are fully drawn, then it becomes solid and changes color. To complete a level, the player must entirely claim the area of the fortress.

There are several constantly moving monsters across the playfield, as well as fixed defensive turrets that shoot shells at the knight – making the drawing even more difficult. The higher the level, the more wicked the monsters and turrets become. If any monster or shell touches the knight, or the line, the player loses a life. It is easy to avoid the dangers at first, but as the remaining unclaimed space on the stage gets smaller, the monsters become harder to escape.

From the screenshots the game looks slick and could end up being quite a bit of fun. Perfect for some quick pick up and play action.

I guess we will find out soon as it will be released October 1st.

breakquestI was really excited to learn that BreakQuest was coming to the PSP in the form of a mini. Now I’m even more excited to know that it will be available on October 1st.

You  should be excited too. Why? Because even if you don’t like breakout style games, Breakquest might just change your mind.

BreakQuest was released in 2004 and won a few of awards from well respected indie game website Game Tunnel.

  • Top 100 Independent Games
  • 2004 Top 10 Games of the Year
  • 2004 Arkanoid Game of the Year

Having played the game myself I can affirm it was deserving. Looking forward to it.

Keeping up with the trend another iPhone developer IUGO Mobile Entertainment is bringing 2 of their games to the PSP.

Star Hogs

Star Hogs is a worms inspired, turn based, space battle game that has been receiving excellent reviews. Unfortunately multiplayer won’t be present in the PSP version, but 32 levels of single player goodness should still provide an awesome experience.

Here are the details from their website that would be relevant to the PSP Mini version:

Star Hogs 1Rig up your hogs, strap yourself in, and head out into orbit for the fiercest turn-based battles this side of Uranus. Obliterate the competition with a Cruise Missile or close in for some potshots from your Vulcan gun. Not your style? Don’t worry, you’ve got more than 20 ways to kill someone. Nuke some asteroids for an extra payday, but remember, they’re the only thing protecting you from a re-entry hangover you won’t wake up from.
Features

  • 32 levels for hours of gameplay
  • Loads of weapons and customization options
  • Gorgeous 3D graphics
  • Elegant, intuitive HUD and UI
  • IUGO high-quality and polish

Zombie Attack!

Zombie attack! is free roaming tower defense game. The zombies don’t follow a set path and you can set up your guns anywhere. However unlike other, non-path based, TD games you can’t use gun placement to create the path the zombies will follow.

Here are the details from their website we believe would be relevant to the PSP Mini version:

Zombie Attack 1Your mission: play as a survivor from the ultimate Zombie Apocalypse, protect your shack and stay alive. Choose from an array of zombie-blasting weapons including, flame throwers and cannons. Kill zombies, earn points and cash to upgrade your weapons and bolster your fire power.

Features

  • Mow down and dismember zombies to keep your shack standing
  • Cartoony, over-the-top effects, from explosions to flying heads
  • Build four types of turrets: Gun, Flame, Axe and Rocket
  • Use the survivor to give a turret an attack boos, or to lure zombies into firing range

Zombie Attack 2Zombie Attack 3

No release date yet, but we expect to be playing these on PSP by the end of the year. For more information and screenshots of the games you can visit the IUGO website.

zombie tycoon 4

Fresh off the Frima Studios website are some very promising looking screenshot of the upcoming PSP Minis game Zombie Tycoon. The game play screenshots look to back up Frimas promise of a quirky and funny gaming experience.

“Zombie Tycoon is a humorous game that puts the player at the helm of their very own ravenous zombie horde! Using a mix of fast-paced action and strategic execution, players can amass a terrifying undead army and conquer the entire world!”

I’m really digging the art style of this game. From what looks like the games splash screen (top), it will host a wide range of cool, wacky characters.

The game will have animated cut-sences which will help “uncover a tale for intrigue and betrayal”. From the stills they look to be high quality, and if done well will really help to deliver a polished gaming experience.

zombie tycoon 5zombie tycoon 6

From what we know about the game, this is one title that I am looking forward to playing.

  • Control three unique and hilarious zombie hordes
  • Play through 10 levels and solve puzzles in order to infest every part of the map and achieve world domination;
  • Choose from over 100 quirky items, armor sets and weapons for your zombie horde;
  • Burn cities to the ground with the unique combat system allowing the player to attack humans AND the places they call home.

Apparently the game will be out in October, but no news yet on whether this will be a launch title.

You can see more screenshots and concept art on the Frima Studios website.
