Upcoming this Week: Halfbrick Echoes

echoes-6Looks like being an exciting minis week this week as Halfbrick Echoes is due to be released in today’s update. Currently the only pricing information we have available is that it will cost $2.99 in North America. Developed by Brisbane’s Halfbrick Studios, Echoes is an action-arcade game in which players control a girl called Charlie who finds herself transported to a bizarre and surreal dream world where she has to collect crystals and avoid sinister enemies called Echoes. Echos was first released as part of the company’s popular Halfbrick Fridays series on the Xbox Live Community Games platform, and many gamers have been hoping to see some of the Fridays games released as minis. In a recent feature in The Age’s Digital Life section, Halfbrick’s head of marketing, Phil Larsen, had this to say about the studios involvement with minis:

We’ve come up with a few smaller, simple casual games where the key concept is addictive, fun gameplay and the minis for PSP has ended up being a perfect fit for them.

Other Halfbrick minis due for release in the near future include Blast Off, Rocket Racing and Zombies.

As ever, stay tuned for our first impressions of Halfbrick Echoes when it hits the PlayStation Store later today.

There is a new interview from D-toid where Halfbrick mentions that Blast Off will be available on the 26th! Overall the crew at Halfbrick is very upbeat on Sony’s support of the platform and they seem to have really embraced developing for minis.

Here’s hoping their minis match the quality of their previous titles and that enough folks buy their games to encourage them to develop even more minis.
