Trailer—One Epic Game

Grip Games finally releases details and a trailer for its upcoming Mini. Initially called “Epic,” One Epic Game is an action-platformer where the game’s hero is constantly running, with his speed increasing as the game progresses. One Epic Game features a Story Mode and a Free Run mode. After finishing the Story Mode, there are 24 challenges to complete with various objectives. This Mini mixes all of the popular gaming mainstays: zombies, aliens, fantasy, nuclear wastelands, all in one title. With a tongue-in-cheek approach and randomly generated levels, One Epic Game really looks like one. You can check out the game’s official website here.

So it’s I Must Run! with a Duke Nukem twist?! I’ll give it a try, I just hope that unlike I Must Run!, there are checkpoints.

  2. volcane says:

Looks an intriguing game – I like the mix of enemies from classic genres.

I agree with Ofaliss – I hope there are checkpoints. The lack of checkpoints in I Must Run made it too punishing in later levels and I gave up trying.

It says random levels. I hope that isn’t a bad thing, but it means there isn’t apt to be checkpoints.
I was really hoping for just a platforming shooter. With upgrades. Will still have to check this out though.

  4. Hey. There definitely are checkpoints in the game! In the Story Mode, as well as in the Challenges.

Random levels mean that you cannot memorize the levels and you always have to rely on your reflexes, which gives the game a really frantic feeling.
But if you fail, checkpoint is never that far behind.

  5. thumbbandit says:

    I’m sold. ;)

    Any word on the price?

  6. Ofaliss says:

Since it has checkpoints, day one buy for me.

  7. volcane says:

@Jakub – fantastic news on the checkpoints! :-D

  8. pspgamer01 says:

what do you call this kind of games? Race Sidescrollings shooters? Anyway I think I can’t resist this game. Hope it’s not too expensive cuz I’m low on money.

  9. Don’t worry, friends… the price won’t be epic ;-)
We will comment on this soon.

@pspgamer01: we call it perpetual motion action. At one point we called it kinetic action, but then we realized that wouldn’t resonate well with Sony ;-)

  10. onmode-ky says:

“Kinetic action” is also kind of a redundant phrase (not a whole lot of non-kinetic action in the world, really), so I’m more inclined toward “perpetual motion action,” too. I rather like NFSR&G, though: NFS run-n-gun.

Jakub, is that July window good for both NA and EU?

  11. @onmode-ky: Yes, we always release our games simultaneously in both territories.
The game is finished and has passed all the QA processes, so there shouldn’t be any unexpected delays for any of the territories. It would have been released already if it wasn’t for certain… complications ;-)
