Wish List: Top Ten Flash Games We Would Like to See Ported To PSP (Part 1)

Several popular Flash games such as Bloons, Kahoots and Mahjongg have already proved that they make ideal minis, so that set us thinking, what other Flash games would make great minis? Here are the frontrunners in our Top Ten list of the ones we would love to see on the PSP. You can find all of them at www.armorgames.com.

5. Death vs Monstars – by GameReclaim

Personally it’s not my favourite type of game, but lots of people love these Bloons-style arena shooters, and this certainly seems to be a very slick one. The premise is simple, you’re Death, and you’re trying to shoot the invading monster hordes as they come at you from all angles! Very bright and colourful with very easy controls and lots of challenges to unlock so you get plenty of bang for your buck.

dvm34. GemCraft – by gameinabottle

Reminds me a lot of Fortix: same fantasy-style top -down gameplay and themes, same absorbing and challenging gameplay. You play the part of a wizard who must use his magical powers to destroy wave upon wave of monsters by creating gems and placing them in defence towers. It’s actually quite complex; you can choose where to place new towers and also other obstacles to stop the monsters such as water trenches, and there’s added strategy involved in combining gems to make more powerful ones.  Once you’ve planned your defence, it’s very satisfying sitting back and watching your gems shoot the monsters. Again, like Fortix, you get the feeling you’ll be playing it for a long, long time.

gemcraft3. Sonny 2 – by Krin

Something a little different to what we’ve seen on minis so far, a very polished game with intriguing comic-book style graphics and cut-scenes. Sonny has a very interesting spin on the regular Flash zombie games, as this time around you’re the zombie! The shoe is on the other severed foot, you might say. With its turn-based combat system, levelling up, and three different classes to choose from (Psychological, Biological and Hydraulic), Sonny succeeds in introducing traditional RPG elements to a very modern genre, while also managing to keep the gameplay very simple. Controls are very basic and so therefore probably easily adaptable for a minis version.

sonny22. Trains – by Tiger TailStudios

Trains is tailor made to be a mini. Everyone loves playing with trains, for starters, and this has all the makings of a classic puzzle game. Simple yet addictive, the basic idea is to get the little engine and all extra wagons home. This involves lots of strategic thinking, including changing the direction of the track and coupling and separating the cars as and when necessary. The controls couldn’t be simpler too, probably just the analogue stick and/or d-pad needed and one button. Even the twangy western music is fantastic. A truly charming little game.

trains1. The Last Stand 2 – by ConArtist

This would look fantastic as a mini! The Last Stand 2 is a very cool zombie-shooting game – it’s addictive, but it’s also got the gameplay depth to give you real value-for-money. There are already several zombie-centric minis in the pipe line, but The Last Stand 2 feels a little different to the ravening hordes of other zombie games. It’s not just about shooting billions of zombies, it’s also about planning searches to locate survivors and supplies, and arranging repairs, all calculated on the hours of daylight you have left, which adds a real air of menace. You can also plan where to set traps. I can certainly say that The Last Stand 2 had me hooked within a few minutes, as a die-hard survival horror fan. The controls would be easy to adapt too, you only need the d-pad and reload, swap weapon and shooting buttons.  The justifiable leader of the pack.
