11 Months Later

Almost a year ago, when Sony announced the Minis program, they also had a list of 50 games that were supposed to be out by the end of 2009. While Minis are well, mini, software development being what it is, it was unrealistic to expect those 50 to actually be out by the end of 2009.
But what about now, almost a year later? A majority, 30-ish, of the announced titles indeed have actually materialized as PSP games. Some like Crystal Defenders and Uno ended up being regular PSP games. But that still leaves almost 20 or so that haven’t materialized.
- Star Hogs – IUGO Mobile Entertainment
- Zombie Attack! – IUGO Mobile Entertainment
- Asphalt 5 - Gameloft
- Real Soccer 2010 - Gameloft
- Pac-Man Championship Edition - Namco Networks
- AstroTripper - PomPom Games
- Burn, Zombie, Burn! 2D - Doublesix
- LittleTrack - Doublesix
- Mighty Empires: The Great Mughals - Immersive Games
- Flexis - VisualMedia
- Laser Ride
- Little Mason
- Minigore - Mountain Sheep
- Overkill Apache
- Resurrection
- Stunt Cars - Icon Games
- Arcade Pool - Icon Games
- Arcade Air Hockey & Bowling - Icon Games
Pac-Man Championship Edition is apparently still on its way, videos of it surfaced at E3. Thanks to a reply to the previous post (which prompted this one), we know that Icon Games’s Arcade Air Hockey & Bowling is done and has been submitted to Sony. So a big kudos to them for sticking with it
But what of the others? Lost in the ether, being played by the likes of Judge Crater and Chris Makepeace? Canceled on the PSP in favor of greener pastures (WiiWare? iPad? Android? 3DSiware?). Given the upcoming glut of horizontal side scrolling shooters, I would not be shocked to see Overkill Apache (one of those) suddenly appear. Okay, probably not.

Oh, yeah, I’d forgotten. Today was the first anniversary of the unveiling of Minis.
Burn, zombie burn is released week ago for pc on steam (for psp maybe next week on store).
I wish they would stop rehashing bad iphone games for the psp and come up with some original ideas. PSP minis seemed like such a great concept, it’s amazing that Sony managed to mess this up so badly.
I’d imagine most of this stuff is cancelled. Gameloft’s stuff may wind up on the PSN, but likely as PSP PSN titles like Uno. They mentioned size issues with Asphalt before, so there you go.
Overall, I am pleased with the selections and offerings. HOWEVER, I will not be TOTALLY happy until I get my fill of Zombie blasting…….ie………Burn Zombie Burn 2D!!!
http://beatshapers.com/melodybloxx wasn’t materialized yet!
Cool idea for an article, Jeremy — lots of promises in the Minis line not yet delivered, luckily many other projects (including some by the same developers who announced these first games) came in to fill in the gaps.
By the by, there’s not much news, but Burn Zombie Burn 2D is not dead, according to Doublesix’s reps … it’s not exactly “coming along nicely” as the old cliche of game development goes, the developer prioritized other projects over this one and I don’t know what state it’s in or if they are actively working on it, but they said they have not outright canned it and do intend to come back to it. So, take that for what it’s worth…
