MelodyBloxx – Upcoming Mini
BreakQuest is one of my favourite minis so far and I play it all the time, so I was very excited to see that BreakQuest developer Beatshapers’ second mini MelodyBloxx is due to be released very soon. We’ve talked to Beatshapers in a previous feature on PSPMinis.com about the game, but now they’ve got a lot more information up on their website, including the following facts:
MelodyBloxx is a music-puzzle game, featuring emerging genres: interactive music gameplay and Match-3 puzzles.
- 20+ levels with outstanding audio-visual experience
- Every level features unique “skin” graphics, animations, music and sound effects
- Interactive/gameplay-adaptive music
- Various bonuses from bombs to music slowdown
- Two game modes: classic and action/puzzle
We’ve seen with BreakQuest how well Beatshapers do with a traditional gaming concept, so I’ve got high hopes for MelodyBloxx, which has also already received an “honourable mention” in the Audio Achievement category at the Independent Games Festival Mobile.

ah, i didnt realize there was a previous feature on here,
its a pretty old feature too, 4 months (and thats just the feature, if i read it correctly he said they made a prototype around spring), and considering that, it gives me alot of hope for this game considering it means that its been in development a long time, well, for a mini.

Yes MelodyBloxx has been appeared within Minis announced unfortunately, we’ve delayed it for 2 more PSP minis which coming end of February and March. Stay tuned =)
Looks like Bejeweled clone…
Yeah, that’s the “Match-3″ bit. (LIke I said in the forums though, looks more like Bejeweled Twist than regular)
Their other mini is a Breakout clone, a game that came out 34 years ago (or when I was 5).
It’s not so much the original idea, always, but what you do with it. By all accounts Breakquest was very original in terms of level design and such. So hopefully the same will be true for this.
Looks interesting I will buy it…
