Beyond the Horizon—July 22nd, 2013

Horizon

Beyond the Horizon is our weekly look at games coming out sometime in the future. Perhaps this week? Perhaps next month? We don’t really know when they are due out (in many cases, neither does the developer), but we do know they are in the works.

Whole bunch of releases last week, including the return of Picbox, though iBomber is still overdue. Super Icon somewhat unexpectedly announced a whole host of Vita-native titles, including a sequel to their PS Mobile game Life of Pixel.

If we are missing any titles or information, let us know!

  • Shuttle Quest 2000 – TACS Games (Action RPG with Game Boy-style graphics, submitted for release)

I added Hungry Giraffe and Crazy Market. Alexey, do you have a date on the Carnivores patch?

I’m definitely excited about Vektor Wars. I LOVED Battlezone back in the day. Wireframe games look awesome to me, and this game looks great!!

  5. JeremyR says:

Red Baron was my favorite wireframe game. Probably my most played arcade game, actually.

  6. Alexey Menshikov says:

Sorry no time to submit update, in a month or so.

In terms of choosing between Battlezone and Red Baron, I think I have to give the edge to the latter. I never got any good at evading enemy tanks for long in Battlezone. However, I’ve never actually played an arcade Red Baron before. :(

Speaking of Battlezone, the IP has been sold in the Atari auctions to Rebellion Interactive Games Ltd., according to recent news. Most of Atari’s classic IP has not been dealt with yet in the auction, and I believe that’s all intended to be a single package, but Battlezone and Math Grand Prix had been split off internally due to (in-progress?) recent projects. So . . . any future Atari compilations will probably not include Battlezone, and any future appearances of Battlezone will not be able to include mention of “Atari.” :( Well, unless the new IP owners come to an agreement.

I have heard of Red Baron :(

But Battlezone holds a special place in my heart :3

OOps I meant to say I have never heard of Red Baron.

    Sucks about Battlezone.

I just saw a video of Red Baron. It looks cool. I wish it or Battlezone would appear on PSN Home Arcade on Vita :(
